What is there to do in Philly?

DH & I want to take a little babymoon.  His company's base is moving to Montreal which I was thinking would be perfect but then he convinced me I would enjoy going to Montreal when I'm not pg more.  So, I think we're going to do a day or two in Philly and then go to AC for a day.  I've been to Philly only a few times and I've always been visiting my friend so I haven't done much that is touristy other than the Reading Market.  What else do you enjoy doing in Philly?  TIA!

Re: What is there to do in Philly?

  • I haven't done a whole lot of the touristy stuff in Philly either.  The art museum and the Franklin Institute are both cool. I think I was at the Besty Ross House and the Liberty Bell on a field trip in grade school. It doesn't get much more touristy than that :)  You could stop in Valley Forge on the way in or out.
  • The art musuem there is one of my favorite places in Philly. I think on Sundays you only have to give a donation to get in and don't need to pay the full price. Rittenhouse Square is a nice area and has good shops and restaurants. Of course there is the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall if you're interested in the history part.
  • Go to the Philly board. I'm sure they can point you in the direction of a ton of things.

  • I second the art museum and actually liked going back this past summer and seeing things like Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. The city itself is neat just because it has so much history. We also visited the zoo, but that wouldn't be ideal this time of year.?

DH and I are headed back there this weekend--my sister and BIL live there--so I can let you know what we do. I know we're going back to the Art Museum. And yes, the Sunday deal is great!?

  • Not sure when you are planning on going, but when we went there we took a horse and buggie (sp?) ride through the historical parts.  The tour guide was really great and informative.  I also love to shop on South St.
  • Really? this city is PACKED with things to do! Have you even looked on the Internet yet?
