Thoughts and prayers please!

On Friday I got a frantic phone call from one of my former parents ... her oldest (16 ... I had their youngest, 5, last year in school and we had Michael when he was young too) had an accident at school that resulted in a head trauma.  Long story short he was messing around with friends on the basketball court, jumped off a friends back to make a slam dunk (he's 6'2 so it's not like he needed the "spring board") and fell and hit his head.  It resulted in a massive head trauma.  They almost lost him Friday night/Saturday morning (he hemorraged and they rushed him in to emergency surgery).  They currently have him in a medically induced coma just trying to let his brain heal.

Please if you are so inclined, say a prayer, send good thoughts, etc to Michael.  He really is a great kid!! It's breaking my heart to see his family go through this.  At this point he's stable but no one knows if there is long term damage.

Thanks!

  • OMG, I know EXACTLY what they are going through and my heart goes out to them.

My brother had a similiar accident in high school.  He was pole volting at a track meet and missed the landing mat and landed on the cement on his head.

Completely fractured his skull and was in a coma.  For 3-4 days we had no idea if he'd live.   And then when he woke up, we had no idea the long term damage.

how scary and terrible.  I really feel for them.  Its an absolutely horrible thing to go through as a family.

  • prayers. I'd have to say this is one of those mothers worst nightmare stories.

  • OMG my heart just sank.  Lots and lots of thoughts, prayers, and get well soon vibes to Michael and his family!!!  XOXOXO
  • Oh my gosh. My heart is racing. I can not even imagine. Sending tons of thoughts to Michael and his family.
  • Thank you for your thoughts. Emily ... we are in Orange County. He is not at a Childrens hospital since he was a head trauma that was the closest hospital with a trauma center. I suppose maybe once he is more stable they may transfer him CHOC. Autumn .... is your brother ok now??
