Anyone go to the Downtown or Winter Park Y?

I am debating whether to join the Y, and would probably go to the downtown or Winter Park facilities. How busy are they on the weekends and weekday evenings? I was a member when I lived in Nashville, but it was always so busy it was even hard to find a parking spot some days, and I don't want to deal with that again. TIA!

Re: Anyone go to the Downtown or Winter Park Y?

  • I go mostly on the weekends and at night since I work full time.  DH is a SAHD so he takes DD there during the week.  It's definitely more crowded downtown at night and on the weekends.  But I've never not been able to find a parking spot.  The downtown Y is also under going an addition/renovation, so they will have more facilities and more parking soon.  There have been times when I couldn't get the machine I wanted right away, but never had to wait more than 20 minutes, so I just did some other work out until then.  hth!
  • I used to go to the WP Y before I moved. For the most part I'd go in the mornings but some days I'd go after work (around 6-7pm). I don't remember it being crazy busy, but they definitely need a bigger parking lot. Sometimes you have to circle a couple times.

You could also go to the Crosby Y (used to be the Wellness Center - behind WP Hospital). Plenty of parking and definitely not as busy!

Isn't the Y membership still city wide? So you could try them all and see which one works best for you. And remember, if you were a Y member before, they shoudn't charge you a joiners fee again.

  • Thanks ladies!

And thanks for the heads up about the joiners fee- I forgot about that!
