Re: PCP/TTC Wednesday

  • The nest has been doing this all over the place.  Once we have a moderator we'll be able to delete all the hiccup posts.

Anyway....No real updates here.  We're back to our original June TTC date which is okay with me.  My bf who is going to carry for our other friends D&D (gay men) will be starting IVF for them around the same time.  We're hoping we get pregnant together and carry around little gay babies ;-)

  • As I posted a couple of days ago we had our first IUI on Monday @ 1, the same day our OPK kit was positive because of the day mix up. We then decided to do a second IUI yesterday @ 4:30 to cover all of our bases and maximize our chances this month. The second experience was MUCH better than the first! I was able to be there and inject it which I was thrilled about. They said M's cervix was really open and she said it was less painful than the day before. We had a different midwife who was really sweet. Right after the insem she shut off the lights and before leaving the room told us to "kiss, hug and make a baby". Now we are just waiting to test. I think we can do so in about 10 days since M usually has a 26-28 day cycle. The waiting is going to be the hardest part. How long did you guys wait to test? How is everyone else doing?
  • Janet - that's great that you and your friend could be starting at the same time!

As for our updates, this week we'll be making the payment that ends our cc debt(!), which means the baby (& house) saving can really begin!  This is great news because it puts us right on target with our planning, and our Aug/Sept start is still looking good.

In more fun news, I knew once I bought that book for the baby, the floodgates would open... We were helping my grandma clean out her house (she's moving to an apt), and I used to have a room there when I was little....so of course we came home with a couple of things! My old piggy bank and one stuffed animal are now here, with the book I bought...so now we're going to need a Baby Box to hold these things... Smile

And finally, my dear friend who lives in Pittsburgh is almost as excited about being an auntie as C and I are about being mommies, and has decided that when she visits in April she wants to take me baby stuff shopping.  She thinks it will make us both feel good to do some browsing and take a couple things home, knowing that the time is coming soon - and who am I to disagree with her, right? Smile

  • Well I have been feeling pregnancy symptoms in full force this past week.  My biggest problem is the fatigue.  I just can't get enough sleep and have taken to a nap in the afternoon (if I don't have to work my second job) and then into bed at 8 or 9.  This seems to help with my second symptom of morning sickness.  I am feeling pretty sick most of the time and getting sick almost every day.  I know it is all for a good cause but I look forward to this stage passing.  Other than that things are going well we go for our ultra sound a week from friday and I am so excited to see the blueberry!

  • awww - some really exciting updates around these parts :)

as for us...how about i start with the good? once our tax return comes in (Feb 6!), we will be 100% cc debt free and fully funded on our baby fund. this is a huuuuuuge relief. due to BIL's wedding next year we are still going to keep our start date in May - and that'll allow me a couple months to take a chunk out of A's car loan (i'm hoping that will be completely paid off by the time baby arrives). Ladies who have used the midwives...when should i call for an initial consultation if we plan to start insems in May?

and now for the fustrating...as my earlier posts indicated, our foster timeline has been changed due to delay in paperwork processing :( we missed the current training start and will have to sit it out until the next series begins in early April. We are really dissapointed, but it will give us more time to prepare.  I'm just hoping that things dont get too hectic as our TTC timeline and foster timeline have kinda run into each other. Take it as it comes, right?

  • Well as for us...we had our sono on Monday morning and it showed little response from the clomid this cycle so we aren't sure yet if we will do any IUI's this month. It all depends on the OPK's and this morning (day 15) it's still negative. The goods are supposed to arrive at the doctor's office today and I'm hoping that by some miracle I'll ovulate and we will be able to insem. If not we are going to up the dosage of the clomid and try again next month. We were so excited this month though since our testing day would be right around our 1st wedding anniversary and if positive, would put a due date around our 6 year dating anniversary. We are trying to stay upbeat about it.

  • lots of excitement around!

nothing new here. working on starting to temp regularly, and we're toying with working on the baby fund (how much would be appropiate? right now we have enough to buy ~10 vials...but funds for insem, FMLA, etc?) versus being more aggressive on SLs (mostly mine, to the tune of our annual salary...at present rate, we'll be paid off in 10 yrs, which is way ahead of schedule, but I'd love ot accelerate that)

  • No updates here. Just saving, saving, and saving. Julie's been missed for this round of layoffs so we are still able to save, and work towards our goals.

I'm really proud of the ladies entering foster care. It is something Julie and I long to do, so congrats!

  • CD 65. Still no period. Darn PCOS.

In other news, I am going to a baby shower this weekend for my favorite SIL, who is having TWINS! Of course this means that I have been indulging in guilt-free baby shopping, which is fun. That said, being around so much baby stuff just increases my long-standing longing for a little one of my own.

finally blogging again at This Will Be: An Adventure
  • Well, I will start looking for a positive OPK on next Tuesday. I'm going home this weekend so I get to plan with my cousins new baby will 6month old.
  • ssg - Sorry to hear you're battling the crazy pregnancy fatigue. I honestly feel like that was the part I was least prepared for, and I found I couldn't adequately explain it to anyone! My low point was bursting in to tears driving home from work one day (maybe a mile from my house, if that) because I was so sure I was going to fall asleep at the wheel! I had two different people tell me that the caloric demand of growing a first trimester fetus is equivalent to a full day of mountain climbing and I clung to that and reminded myself of it constantly when I felt most out of it. It really does get better. Hang in there and sleep as much as you can!

jenn and mel - Hope you get a positive OPK so you can get an IUI in this month... and that it's a lucky one!

Congrats to everyone else that is chipping away at the to-do lists!

It's really starting to hit me that we're in the home stretch. As of today, I am three weeks away from being considered full term. We're tackling our own to-do list as aggressively as we can. We have one more week of childbirth classes, the nursery is just about finished, my work coverage is lined up and ready to go, and I took advantage of today's snow day to start washing some of the baby's bedding and clothes. We still need to meet with an attorney to put some documents in place before delivery, but that's probably the biggest thing hanging over us at this point. It's hard to believe this phase of our journey is wrapping up! Pregnancy has gone by sooooo much faster than TTC ever did.

  • Wow!  So much is happening for everyone!

Kendyl  -- the home stretch went really quickly for us -- before you know it your little one will be out!  How exciting!

We are doing well here.  Maggie will be four weeks tomorrow.  She is growing quickly.  She grew about 2 lbs in 2 weeks, according to the lactation consultant.  Apparently they hope for 1 - 2 pounds a month, so they are trying to lessen W's milk flow.  Maggie and W still have thrush, which has been a pain in the neck but as issues go is pretty small.  Otherwise, she is doing great!  She is so cute, I can't stop staring at her.

Our donor came for a visit on Sunday.  It was awesome!  The better we know him the more we respect him.  He was so sweet with Maggie and truly maintained the kind of boundary we hoped.  We also  spoke about his banking for our next kid.  He will no longer be local as of this summer, so we may start banking next month to prepare.  We are trying to figure out how many vials he should produce.

  • we're in the tww. we'll test on february 8th, unless she starts first. i've been up and down, sometimes feeling positive and hopeful and other times certain that this try is going to fail just like the first four. i'm trying not to think about it because otherwise i'm going to start obsessing.

ccbride, we were told to test 14 days after the insem. we got anxious and tested a few days early the first time, and then she started her cycle the next day. we've been waiting the full time since and haven't tested on any of our other attempts because she's been starting a day or two before we would have.

  • I'm late to the game here, but thought I would add my update. Work has been crazy, which is no fun... especially since I've been dealing with periods of nausea all day, plus bloat, plus tiredness. I feel like I'm so useless in the afternoons, but don't know how I could be more productive right now when its all I can do just to be present!

So, because of all that, I spilled the beans to my boss. I wasn't planning on telling this early... but wanted him to understand what was going on and not feel like I just was slacking on purpose. He was great... excited for us and very understanding. He told me to just do what I need to do. I think it helps that my coworker had the worst morning sickness (when she was pregnant, almost 5 years ago now) and ended up having to adjust her schedule because she was coming in late almost everyday since she couldn't stop throwing up! Me just feeling unproductive is much easier to deal with I guess!!  :-)

On a nicer note, tonight is our orientation at the Birth Center. And this weekend we should be telling the ILs. I'm very excited for both!!

Good luck to everyone else with the PCP checklists and for those *hopefully* doing IUIs this month. My fingers are crossed for all of you!
