? for Preggos...

How are you coping with the itchy skin? I'm having a horrible time with it to the point where I wake up from sleeping having to scratch. I read that the key is to keep hydrated but water just goes right threw me :( I've used the palmer's coco butter lotion with no help-well what's left of it, Dh and DD used it now b/c they like the way it smells :P

Any suggestions are very welcomed :)

TIA, Michele

Re: ? for Preggos...

  • I've been using curel pregnancy cream. I like them way it smells and it's not to thick.  I  haven't had issues with itchy skin yet but I rub cream on my belly 3 or 4 times a day. When I was pregnant with DS I tried a ton of lotions and creams and the only thing that worked was bath and body works cream. All the lotions for pregnany made me break out in a rash.
  • if the lotion isn't helping and it's getting worse to the point where you are waking up to scratch, call your dr. Remember Vicki had this and it turned out to be cholestasis.

Oh yes, I read that it can be the cause too! watching out for  other symptoms :)

  • I use Aveeno...a lot of Aveeno, but I think my skin is just itchy from all the hot showers and colder air...not from pregnancy.  I hope you find something!
  • Hi! I'm not pg anymore, but wanted to give you options. Yes, staying hydrated helps a lot. I was not a water drinker, but had to make myself one for the baby. I used Curel Pregnancy Cream as pp mentioned. It worked well, but then I got the Burt's Bees Mama Butter and that worked better for me (it had come out later in my pregnancy). But some people swear by Palmer's, so I guess everyone is different. Some people also like Bio Oil. I've tried all of these. Haha. You can find them all at drug stores or Target. Hope you find one that works for you :)
