silly question.....when do you add your laundry

detergent when doing wash? I add mine before I put wash in, when Matt does it he puts it in after all the wash is in. Just wondering how everyone else does it? Matt thinks the wash doesn't get clean when you put the soap in before the clothes.

I like to start the water, then add the detergent and let it go for a little bit to get the soap mixed in. Then I add clothes.  I was always taught that this is better than adding it on clothes because the soap get mixed in rather than just being on parts of the clothes.

Your husband has it backward. In order for the soap to reach all clothes it has to be in the water that reaches all of the clothes.

I let the water run, add detergent and then add clothes.

Lol...my DH thinks the same thing.  I do detergent, water, then clothes.

Ours adds it for us (we have a front loader that uses HE detergent).

But before we had a front loader I would either do the detergent and then put the clothes in or the other way around, depending on the type of detergent (powder i would add first, liqud it didn't matter to me). Honestly, all my clothes were clean so I don't think it matters. That is my opinion though.

I start the water, add my clothes, then throw in the cap of detergent.  Yep, I  throw in cap.  I figure this way it works it way into the water instead of onto the clothes, but I dont' have to wait for enough water to enter the machine before I put my clothes in.  I just have to be careful as not to accidently throw the cap into the dryer!
