St. Augustine Recommendations

Hi there! Haven't been on here on in awhile Smile Does anyone have any hotel, B&B or restaurant recommendations for St. Augustine? I trying to plan a weekend getaway for our anniversary next month.

 Thanks in advance!

Melissa

Re: St. Augustine Recommendations

  • I liked Athena - it's a very casual Greek restaurant.?
    14 Cathedral Pl,?St Augustine,?FL? -(904) 823-9076??

Also - you might try posting on the First Coast board - that's full of Jacksonville and St. Aug nesties

  • I 2nd St. Francis Inn. I've stayed there twice and it was wonderful! Just know ahead of time that its been featured on several History channel type shows saying its haunted :)
  • O.C. Whites for dinner- it was the best! We went with a group and ate off each other's plates because it was so good. I can't remember what I got though- probably some sort of scallops? It has a lot of seafood. And you sit outside in this courtyard and there is live music- perfect for a romantic date night!

I think we stayed at a Renaissance- but that was b/c BIL got the rooms for free. There are a ton of really cute B&B's though.

  • Hotels: Casa Monice or Hilton

B&Bs: Bayfront Marin House, Casablanca, or St. Francis Inn

Restaurants: The Colombia Restaurant for a nice dinner, Gypsy Cab Co for a good sandwich, Salt Water Cowboys for old Florida atmosphere and A1A Ale Works for the view

  • I really like Athena. They have traditional Mediterranean food and it's all really tasty. Acapulco has the best Mexican food. And 95 Cordova (in the Casa Monica Hotel) is great for a romantic evening, just be prepared to spend some money. The creme brulee is to die for, as is the escargot if you like that kind of thing. My husband hates seafood and anything weird, but he'll even eat the escargot. It comes with a pastry and a creamy sauce. mmmmm.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Gypsy Cab Co. but it seems to be a pretty popular spot. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. Anyway, you might enjoy staying at a bed and breakfast. They are all really nice and well kept, and it's part of the St. Augustine experience. Each one has its own interesting history. I hope you have a great time!

    Finally Conceived 2-5-11!!!
