Postal Service May Be Scaled Back

Instead of the 6 day service they may only do 5 days of service now.  Honestly I think I could live with that.  I get most of my bills online now and very little important correspondence via USPS.

What do you think?

Re: Postal Service May Be Scaled Back

  • I don't care if mail isn't delivered to my house six times per week, but this would delay all orders an additional day. Worse than that it would be hard to get to the post office during M-F business hours for those of us with typical working hours.
  • Nah, I dont think it wont affect me in any way
  • I just saw that on Nightly News.  They were saying they would cut a day in the middle of the week.  I could live with it.  At this juncture, they need to do anything they can to ensure they can stay afloat without having to lay people off.
  • I just saw that on the nightly news too.  They said that if they cut a day, it will most likely be Saturday or Tuesday.  It doesn't really effect me at all.
  • I agree that I wouldn't mind too much if that is what they have to do.  Some days i get 2-3 pieces of mail plus I get e-statements for my cc's and bank statements.

The only annoying thing would be longer delivery for online orders or packages.

  • If it means more people get to keep their jobs, then it's cool with me. ?I rarely go to the post office these days anyway.

It might cramp my style with Blockbuster by mail, though...

  • If it prevents people from loosing their jobs then i am all for it! We also pay many bills online and rarely get an important piece of mail..sadly, it is mostly advertisements or jumk mail
  • I'm cool with it, if it means people are keeping their jobs.  I never get any good mail anymore anyways.
  • How about they stop giving discounts to junk mail?  When I worked for a non-profit,  we had to jump through hoops to get a lower cost postal stamp.  But the filler crap can be sent for less than half normal postal cost.

Honestly cutting a day in the week might result in their losing more money,  as it is going to impact their business flow most.

  • I would only care if it was cut on a saturday because if there is something, like a box, that i have to bring to the post office there is no way that i could do that during the week.  it takes me an hour to get to work, i work 9 hour days, and then I'd have to carry this box into work if i had to mail it.  I go into work and leave before/after the post office opens.  Also, most people get paid on fridays so they mail out some checks saturday to get there for the next week.
