Anyone painted over knotty pine paneling?

DH and I want to paint our den/kitchen, which is covered in knotty wood paneling.  Anyone have any tips for painting over the stuff?

Re: Anyone painted over knotty pine paneling?

  • I don't have any tips but I just wanted to say it is going to look so good!  Painted knotty pine paneling is my absolute FAV!  We looked at a house recently and they had taken out all of the knotty pine paneling and replaced it with sheetrock.  They were so proud, I was sad because it is so great painted!  Good Luck!
  • We painted over the ugly paneling in our old house. I know most people sand it down, then prime then paint, but we didn't have to sand ours. We just primed it really good and I think we may have had to do 2 coats, but I don't remember. I believe there are PIB. :) I'm just now seeing this, sorry!
