I've never been to mackinac island either...we've lived here for 10 years so I guess it's time we get up there.
have you been to New Orleans before. Go if you have the chance. It's a really neat city. who knows you may even run into the jolie-pitt clan
Re: **joshnellen**
I used to live 45 minutes from mackinaw city so we went to the island a lot......I take for granted that those living in this half of the mitten have not been there as often or never.
I was in New Orleans about 2 years ago when my FIL died. He was working for a security company that provided security for the trailer parks after Katrina. So when we went, we didn't see the city really. We were dealing with a small funeral there for his co-workers, sorting through his belongings and packing them in our car, and all of the other death related issues. We did have the nice amenity of having armed guards escorting us everywhere we needed to go. They also drove us to the areas worst hit by the hurricaine and its aftermath. Those that think NewOrleans is "back" need only go a few miles to realize that the French Quarter may be all fine and dandy, but there is still quite a bit of damage.
