New to San Antonio

Hi ladies! I just got married December 13th and my husband and I also just moved to San Antonio last week through his company. It has been a crazy couple of months to say the least!  We are currently in corporate housing off Huebner Road in the Marquis at Deerfield apartments but are moving to Cibolo Canyon at the end of February.  Any suggestions of things to do or ways to meet people?  We don't know anyone in town and have thought about joining a sports league or something like that.  Any suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc. would be so helpful.  We have been down to the Riverwalk and place around our apartment but that's about it.  Thanks so much!

 Erin

Re: New to San Antonio

  • Hi Erin! Welcome to SA! We're practically neighbors... I live just up the road from you :) Also, I was born in OH (Canton) but we moved here when I was 3... ?My grandma and some family still live in the Cleveland area, however they prefer to visit us vs. us visiting them, especially in the winter!

Several of us get together once a month for bunco (or just drinks; we don't always play!)... in fact, I'm hosting on Feb 18th; you're welcome to join us. Just shoot me an email at laurenNmatt@gmail.com and I'll add you to the evite (for any other newbie, feel free to email me as well.)?

  •  Welcome! Everyone is really nice on here! Outside of the Nest, there's also the San Antonio Sports & Social Club (www.sanantoniossc.com) and there's www.meetup.com that features a lot of different interest groups. I haven't done it yet, but a friend of mine has and met some neat people.

  • Welcome! I live in Cibolo Canyon also! Bunco is a great way to meet people. I haven't been in awhile but can't wait to go soon!
  • Also, I'm in the Junior League. I really like it and have met a lot of really fun girls! It's a bigger time commitment but it may be something for you to do. The deadline for applying or whatever is soon though. If you are interested you can look at the website www.jlsa.org or email me.

  • I just wanted to say Welcome from one former Buckeye!! I miss Columbus, but not the winters.  I am no help on social activities.  Hope you enjoy the city.
  • Welcome. This is a wonderful city. I've lived here all of my life. There are many ways to meet people. I haven't yet gotten into some of the things these ladies are discussing but I've really enjoyed meeting people. I met a lot of lovely ladies on the Knot through get togethers. At some point I would like to start getting with ladies who are already married. *giggle* I would recommend looking into activities you both like. My hubby and I are involved in bike riding and have met people that way as well. I also do 5ks and meet many lovely people at those.
  • Welcome! When we relocated down here last year we also rented at Deerfield for about 4 months while our house was built (we are also just up the road in Rogers Ranch).

We bascially all met on here and play Bunco once a month, you should def try to make it in Feb since it will be so close to your apt!

  • PS- I'm Erin too! :)
  • Welcome!  Junior League is a great way to meet people.  I'm not in it, but know tons of girls who do it. I'm more involved in my sorority's alum group here in town. I also have made a bunch of friends through Nestie GTG's!
