Watch Oprah today...Save big $ at grocery store...

My BFF just called me to tell me to make sure I watch Oprah today.  It's going to be about how to save alot of money at the grocery stores.  She said that she and all of her friends (they live in ATL) have started doing this and it really works...she said the savings are amazing.  I don't know the details of it all yet, but here is a link to the Oprah website talking about it:

I'm going to watch, we spend a ton at the grocery store and by the middle of the week it seems like there is nothing to eat.  I know I would probably save more if I shopped at Walmart more and Publix less!

I have saved so much by going to Kroger! They double coupons up to 50 cents! Plus they have this website www.shortcuts.com where you can download coupons onto your Kroger plus card! I love it! It is actually kind of fun! I just registered for www.couponmom.com and it looks like they have alot of good coupons that you can print out!

I know!  I love Publix though.  I don't like Wal-Mart's meat or produce.  I should just buy that there and get everything else from Wal-Mart, but I already feel like I live at the grocery store as it is so I just want to get it over with during one stop, ya know!

Yeah, I used to shop at Kroger and always felt like I saved alot there.  There isn't one close to my house now though :-(

I don't like Walmart meats either, but I do like Costco meats so I may start buying them there and freezing what we don't eat right away.

Costco has really great meats!  I wish we had a closer one so we could go more often.

We go to Publix for produce, meat, and specialty items... most pantry items and household products come from Wal-Mart.  It's so much cheaper that it's usually worth the extra trip and time.  We hardly ever go on the same day anyway.

Ok, I just have to say this, speaking of price differences.  I am a huge fan of Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches...

at Wal-Mart, they are $3.98 for six sandwiches

at Publix and Bruno's, they are $5.70 for six sandwiches.

That is a HUGE difference for something so small!

I need to update my info at http://www.shortcuts.com/ as we shop at Kroger.  Also, Kroger gives you coupons when you use your Kroger card, they will also send you some occasionally along w/Target so be on the lookout for those.  I save them in a "coupon holder" in my purse and always have them on hand. 

If you see all the info on Oprah, I can't believe how much $$ these couples spend.  I try to save as much as I can and DH is SO good about it.
