Has your phone survived being dropped in water?

My phone took a dive into some water this morning.   I took the battery off and let everything dry up pretty well.  I just put the battery back in and got the Verizon Wireless startup screen over and over again when I turned it on.  I'm taking it to the store this afternoon to see what they can do for it.

Please share with me what happened to your phone after being in water. (And keep your fingers crossed for mine!)

a friends phone was dropped in water and they put the whole thing in a jar of rice overnight and it started working again the next day-- the rice sucked up all of the moisture out of it..... ?good luck!

both my sister and friend dropped it in the toilet....

a bowl of rice overnight and no matter what do not put the battery back in until it's been in the rice for a long time!

Take it apart and let it air dry.

I've dropped two phones in water & they both died.  I've never heard the rice thing before so maybe that would have saved them!

ditto the rice-- put it in a warm, dry place and let it sit for 24-72 hours.  there's a very high chance it will work again

Give it more than a day.  Mine was completely saturated in beer and 3 days later it was working perfectly (and I didn't do anything to remedy it at all).

Thanks!  It was in the rice before I tried it again, I'm just too impatient.  It's back in the rice now.  I'll try it again tomorrow.

DH has done that 5 times (to the same cell phone).

They key is to dry it out (usually over a few days) over a warm air vent or in a VERY dry place before you even attempt to turn it back on.

DH says it is the act of turning your phone on that kills it. It is the elctricity and the water that cook the phone. DH usually dried his on the dash of the car where the hot air flows out from the heater or in your house over the forced hot air vent.

No i just lost my phone last week by dropping it in water...:( I dried it out and everything but it never worked again...
