ER visit today

Today I got called to pick up Emma from daycare.  She had been sleeping for 4 hours and when they woke her up, she had a temp of 102.3...Yikes!  She was fine when we dropped her offSad  She was not herself at all and I could feel how hot she was through her clothes and mine.  We decided to skip the doctor and went straight to the ER...BTW, I love the pediatric ER at sparrow.

She had all kinds of tests run (blood, boogers, chest x-ray, and urine).  These tests are no fun on a baby.  She was dehydrated but passed all of her tests.  They had no reason or explanation for her temperature.  She got an IV of fluids (hard enough to find a spot on a roly poly baby let alone a dehydrated one) and she fell asleep in my arms.  When she woke up, she was smiley and wanted to play a bit.  She was able to nurse and as always kept trying to play with her feet while she ate.  This was had since she had a hard splint on her arm holding her IV/arm still.

We follow up with our doctor tomorrow.  Still not sure what caused all of this.  They ruled out RSV and flu and all of her other tests were normal.  She is resting well now.

  • How wierd!! Joey had a temp yesterday at daycare too. His went up to 102 and went up and down. Finally around 2pm they just couldn't console him and we had to pick him up. I assumed that it had something to do with the vaccines he had gotten the day before!
  • Awww!  Poor Joey!  What is going around in that classroom?!  Emma was clingy today but her fever was gone.......never over 99 today.  By this evening, she was acting pretty normal.  She has a follow up with our doc tomorrow, but when we get up in the morning and she is still doing OK, she will go to school.

    How is Joey today?

  • Hey,

I'm replying to this really late! I think people are bringing their kids in sick. I dropped Joey off the other day and Aireyona was there, and had a really nasty cough. Well guess what, the next day Joey has that really nasty cough and is very sick. I am pissed to say the least.
