Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't posted in a long time, it's been crazy around here.  I needed to give a work vent!

Background info:  There's a teacher at our school who doesn't get along well with anyone on our staff.  Our staff is very friendly and a tight group and we all try to be friendly to her but it just doesn't happen.  Anyway, she was originally a third grade teacher (for the last 15 years) but was moved down to 2nd this year.  We then had way too many first graders so she was made into a 1st-2nd grade combination class.  As you could imagine, she was thrilled (insert sarcasm).   She's never taught this age group so she struggled when she first got them.  Our principal asked us to give her 5 of our very advanced students to be moved into her combo.  When grading time came around she asked me about one of the boys I gave her.  She noticed I gave him mostly 4's and 5's (equals A's and B's from our era) on his first quarter report card and she asked why.  I told her he was reading waaaaay above grade level, had high reading comprehension skills, was already adding and subtracting and had all of his facts memorized so I graded him accordingly.  I guess she didn't agree with my scores because on his second quarter report card she gave him 3's and 4's (that's like C's and D's from our time).  Of course the Mom was angry and called to question her on his grades and wanted to know why they went down so much.  To make a long story short.......this teacher told the Mom that I don't know how to grade and I'm inexperienced and that he didn't deserved his first quarter grades.  I was livid and discussed it with my principal.  The Mom wants him moved back into my class but because of being over impacted,we can't.    Work is going to be FUN tomorrow!

Re: Hi everyone!

  • That was really RUDE!

  • She has got a lot of nerve!  I think a tire-slashing it in order.

Sorry you're having to deal with this.  Good luck tomorrow.

  • OMG!  Shelly, I am so sorry you are dealing with this.  I hope that the kid goes back to your class.  Sounds like that teacher is not happy she moved and is taking it out on the kids.

Trust me, I know all about teacher drama.  That is not right.  If you need someone to talk to, I am here for you.  Speaking of which, I need to email you about some stuff that is happening to one of our kinder teachers.

  • Sorry you have to deal with this.  Like Marina said, I think she's mad about being moved and taking out on the students.  Hope things work out soon.  Good luck!
  • Whoa!  Way to throw you under the bus!  That's really messed up and I hope that your Principal deals with her unprofessionalism immediately.
