Did you watch the Australian Open? DH got up at 2:30 to watch it live. I watched the match Sunday morning, and didn't see the trophy presentation until yesterday. It broke my heart!

Yeah, DH and I DVRed it and watched it when we woke up Sunday morning. I was really rather upset with Roger, honestly. I've never seen him mentally give in quite like that before. I found it very sad after his good 4th set. Anyway, it was pretty depressing.
Given that DH is a Rafa fan these days, I haven't particularly liked talking about it, ?heh. I just hope Roger shows up looking like he wants his titles from now on. That's all I ask. He can lose, but he should lose fighting. ?I felt like at the very end, he wasn't playing like he wanted it as much as Rafa did.?
Its like once he got into the 5th, he just gave up. Obviously he could beat Nadal...he dominated in the sets he won...but I think Nadal is totally in his head. It really sucks that the French is the next major, but if he could win that, I think he'd get his mojo back!
I told DH that I'm going to have a VERY rough time pulling for the US at Davis Cup. I *may* get to meet the American players...but I would much rather meet Roger!

Did I tell you we saw Roger up close in Miami in 2005? We got his autograph and we were right there at the fence on a practice court. He didn't talk to people, just signed things, but still. My husband has a long arm, so he put my hat over the fence, his mom's hat over the fence, AND his mom's boyfriend's hat too. All 3 got signed. I totally squealed like a little girl when my husband handed me my Univ. of Montevallo hat back with Roger's signature on it. I'm seriously considerng wearing it to the match, I'm sure my MIL and her boyfriend will probably bring theirs (they are coming from FL to go with us).?

I think that's a good plan. I am jealous of your hat. I just think Roger is the classiest man in tennis and my favorite ever (he's a cuter Pete Sampras!). One of DH's friends at USTA thinks Roger will come out the closet after he retires and that Myrika (sp?) is just his beard!

Gah, that was freaking awful. Even Rafa feels somewhat bad for winning, you could tell. I hope things will get better after this.?
Wasn't it horrible? I started crying myself. Especially when he tried to get it together so that Nadal wouldn't have to speak before him. I used to hate Nadal, but I admire the way he is handling all of this.
He may need a sports psychologist.
As much as I hate seeing him lose to Nadal, I LOVE to watch them play each other. Their matches are really at a different level than ANY of the other men.
I hope his inner circle gets him to do whatever it is that he needs.?
and yeah, they are way better than anyone else on the planet-hopefully the results of their matches will start looking more even. it's only fair. if nothing else, I hope this is going to lead to some serious motivation.?
They were talking on ESPN about Roger being so stubborn...that he fully believed that he could beat Nadal by just playing the way he always had. Obviously, that's not the case. So hopefully Roger will adjust his game.
