$75 for basic cable and DVR?!
SERIOUSLY!???
I just got off the phone with Charter to change our package (which was around $70 for everything- full cable, movie channels, DVR, etc.) and now they are trying to charge me $75 a month for just BASIC and DVR! ?Seriously?!!!
I even told them I would cancel and move to direct TV if I couldn't get a better rate and she said "Ok, when do you want to disconnect?" ?What happened to good customer service?! ?Oh wait, I am talking about Charter... they just suck!?
Re: $75 for basic cable and DVR?!
What happened to good customer service indeed. Wow she obviously doesn't care if Charter loses business! Yes I agree Charter sucks!!
And yes that seems ridiculous that they are going to charge you 5 dollars more for something a lot simpler than you previously had. Ugh!
Good luck with whichever way you go!
GRR! we pay $80 for DirecTv with 3 receivers and a DVR - no movie channels but the biggest non-movie channel package they have
If you want a referral for Direct TV,let me know - I'll get $50 and you'll get $50!
We have direcTV too and if anyone else wants a referral we'll happily give it too. $50 for us, $50 for you. Sarah has first dibs though.......
DH wouldn't trade it for the world. He loves it and has TiVo w/it.
I feel your pain. Our bill with them for Digital DVR+HD and Internet just jumped to 150 a month! It was 98 a month until they restructured their prices.
For the directtv girls, do you get the local channels in HD? We watch alot on NBC and ABC, and would hate to lose those in HD.
we just hooked up an antennae to our HD TV and we get the Local Channels in HD. Instead of ABC being on 31 - it's 31-1 on the DirectTv receiver.
We get ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and FOX in HD
Yeah we'll try not to keep you as a customer, if you want to switch to another company that is just fine. LOL
I've never had to deal with Charter and I've heard nothing but bad things about them. Even from DH who used to work for them on the internet side.
We just have the basic package of DirecTV and it costs us around $40 or $50 a month but we don't have a DVR.
We have dish network and I'm planning on changing to Direct when our contract runs out. We cable bill is about $150. a month too. We have DVR/HD and all the movie channels, yet I still think that's ridiculous. They charge us $1.00 for every PPV movie we order over the phone, instead of using the online service. Another thing I hate is that you can't use the On demand (which we have) w/o having a home phone, which we don't. So alas, Dish sucks, I guess my only option is dish.
Speaking of Charter, I never thought I would say this, yet I miss the crap out of them. My cable service was good and cheaper and I could get on demand stuff, SOOOOO much more stuff than the satellite people offer. Sadly, once again, charter isn't offered in our area, so satellite is all we have.
Wow.. when yall are talking about the rates, does that include internet as well?
I know we pay Comcast around $90 a month. But, that includes basic channels (no HBO or anything) plus high speed internet. We have an old TIVO that is separate from that.
The cable companies are a complete rip. I wish they didn't monopolize one area, and you actually had a choice of who you wanted to use.
We have basic digital cable/cable internet/digital phone for $99/month with Brighthouse. It was supposed to be for one year, but our install got so screwed up, and then we spent 3 months in hell with them (including getting stood up 4 times when they needed to come fix it for us), so I demanded we be offered that price as long as we kept the service. They agreed then - we'll see what happens in May, but I'm prepared to make a big stink!
That's crazy! Guess it depends on the rep b/c they've given us tons of credits before...
