You mentioned before that you would buy a pre-owned car. Would you recommend getting a certified pre-owned vs just a "normal" pre-owned?
Both and H and I will need new cars by the end of the year. Right now, we're looking at SUVs for H, specifically the Mazda CX7 and CX9. We'll probably get me an Accord in a few months or so. We are leaning towards getting a lease just cause it's less money out of pocket right now (even though I would ideally rather buy, it's just painful to think about going from 0 car payments to 2).
I just keep going back and forth on whether to go with a lease or a pre-owned that's going to be a slightly higher payment... but own in the end. I'm also a little scared of buying a used car.
Re: ****SpyKitty**** re: cars
Hmmm- good question. I am pessemistic and glass half empty type person so I would get a certified one- just because I know it would break down on my shortly after buying.
Seriously though- they put those cars through the ringer to get certified. I would do that.
The thing that sucks about leases (in my opinion) is that I would get something slightly above what I could really afford (bc it is OC afterall) since the payments are cheaper. Fast forward 3 years and I either have to lease again or if buying have to downgrade in order to buy.
For the CX- do you plan on having more kids and are you planning on buying? If the answer to both is yes- get the CX9. My manager has the CX7 and it a bit small. She has two kids. Mazda is one of my clients and I am seeing them next week. I can ask if there are going to be any good incentives on them in the next couple months.
Personally I love the new Toyota Venza but they are out of my price range.
Good luck- let me know if you want to talk live or anything!

I bought a certified pre owned and couldn't be happier. At the dealership where I bought it (some others should be like this too) had most of their CPO (including mine) as prior loaner cars and not trade ins. It eased a lot on my mind knowing it was a dealership car and had been maintained properly. Price wise it worked out great. It had 16k miles and was 25% less than the new model for the same year. The warranty extended to 100k (total) bumper to bumper miles.
Just my thoughts. :-)
