I love that place. a girl was just asking me what there was to do there, and now I want to go back sooo bad. I guess I am having Savannah DT"s
Re: Savannah GA
Aw, I'm sure it will be a gorgeous wedding! I haven't been to Savannah since I was a child and would love to go back.
DH grew up just outside Savannah and his grandparents are buried in the Bonaventure Cemetary (where the garden of good and evil statue was.)
I'm excited because on our last trip before the baby we are going to spend an extra couple days in Savannah and Tybee Island while we are down there visiting his family. Yay!
I've never been to the Crab Shack or to a lot of the touristy places down there, so I'm looking forward to it.
Where is that cemetary? I have been several times but never seen the cemetary or the bird girl~isn t that what she called....
I know they have moved her inside somewher, but I would love to see the cemetary anyway. The only one I have been to is the big one off one of the squares. kinda downtown
The Crab Shack is more about atmosphere than good food, IMO. I loved it, though. I love Savannah...its one of my favorite places I've been on vacation.
I love going to the Crab Shack. I know it's touristy, but I can't help it. Everyone always goes to Paula Deen's restaurant, but we went to Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House on our last trip, and I'll never go back to Paula Deen's again. OMG that food was amazing.
Bonaventure is kind of off the beaten path - it's not within walking distance to the historic district. It's sort of on the way out to Tybee? Definitely worth a visit, it's a gorgeous place. I believe the bird girl is now in the Telfair Museum...
Ohhh! I love Tybee Island. If you guys are history buffs, check out Fort Pulaski. It's really neat!
Also, check out the Savannah Candy Company on River Street. It's AWESOME, you get to watch them make all of these great candies from scratch.
We stayed on River Street and it was hard to keep out of the candy stores. But it was so much fun to get sit on our balcony and people watch. I want to go back!

Bonaventure is in Thunderbolt. We just mapquested it and drove there from our hotel, it wasn't a long drive from the historic district. They're moved the bird girl into a museum in the historic district, but I can't remember the name of it now... ahh! I can see it in my mind... haha. Was Colonial Cemetery the one you're thinking about that was downtown? It was cool!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Savannah - my best friend from ATL is from there so I've been several times. My mom took me a long time ago when the midnight in the garden of good and evil had just finished the movie, etc. We went and saw everything on our own and it was awesome. Bonaventure is off the beaten path like Amy said.
I'll also throw in there that I LOVE Charleston - we used to go for Christmas w/my family every year as my grandparents lived in HHI and we'd just go from there.
But Savannah is wonderful. If only there was a major college/university there that DH could work at........I would so live there.
