My wife came across your post about your OB troubles and this morning she said I should write you about our story.

Background: We had our 1st IUI in Jan. 08....and got pregnant. Lost the baby at 8weeks. Then we had 6 additional IUI's where OB's relied MOSTLY on OPK's. Sometimes they would do a sonogram but only until I got the positive OPK and then they would do the IUI. It didn't work. I chagned OB's.

My current OB uses sonograms as the first and foremost predictor of ovulation. She does daily sonograms beginning around day 11 and then everyday until she actually sees the follicles collapse/rupture. She does the IUI the day she sees the rupture on the sonogram. It worked the first time we tried this way and I am now 4 weeks 5 days pregnant.

On a side note, I did OPK's this cycle too, for my own comfort, and I got a positive OPK THREE days before i actually ovulated. If I had continued doing IUI's based on OPK tests I would have definitley inseminated too soon again this cycle.

All our best to you. We completley understand the rollercoaster TTC is.

Re: **jennandmel**

  • Thanks so much for the information and congrats on your pregnancy! TTC is an emotional roller coaster from day 1 and it's hard not to get so caught up with it that it blurs reality for you. We went against our doctor's advice this month. I went in for a sonogram on day 13 and she said she didn't see anything. I ended up taking the swimmers home with me saying we would skip the month and ship them back. We kept them here and I continued to do OPK's even though she basically said we had no hope for this month. Well on day 17 I finally got what I considered close enough to a positive and we inseminated at home the following day. We are now 9 days into the TWW and I've had nausea in the evenings for the last 3 days with tons of lower abdominal pressure and fatigue. I've been waking up in the middle of the night several times the past 2 nights to pee which is totally out of the ordinary for me. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that it all means good things. If it doesn't we've gotten a good recommendation for an RE in town and have a new plan of action. Thanks for sharing your story! H&H 9 months to you!
