Running out of time... any advise?

Hello,

I am a newbee to the Chicago land area.  Moved out here from PA with my fiance.  We're looking to have a low key wedding around the Naperville area where we currently just bought a house.  It'd be great if we could have the wedding and the after what not at the same location.  We're looking to get married in august (OF 09!!! (yeah)) Been a little behind on planning as I am about 8 months pregnant and we've been moving and trying to baby prep.  We're fine with a small banquet hall only something with a nice out door location to have the wedding.  I've been google searching places... but I'm kinda stuck as I have no idea what to look for, I'm not from around here... and of course he is no help... lol

 Anyone know of any place?

Anyone have any recomendations on CHEAPish but decent DJ's, hair stylists, photographers, videographers, etc.  We're around the northern Plainfield/Naperville area... any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Running out of time... any advise?

  • You can try White Eagle golf in Naperville, but they might be booked already. You can also try Carillon in Plainfield. It's a 55+ community (DH's grandma lives there), but they have a ballroom that might be available.

DJ: We used Sound Sonic DJs out of Orland Park/Tinley, and they were great. $700 and they were some of the cheapest we found. Kept the dance floor packed all night.

Dale Jewel (sp) is good. A friend used him and they were really happy with their pics. >$1,000.

  • I would have loved to get married at Naper Settlement--they book far in advance, though. We ended up getting married at Holiday Inn Select in Naperville because of a big discount from my uncle. The staff was wonderful, and we really liked it.
  • You could also check out hotel availability in Oak Brook. It's pretty central to everything in the Chicago area.
  • you could try walter payton's roadhouse in aurora, il. my girlfriend is getting married there in june. they have a beautiful outside setting to get married & you can just walk inside for the reception. to top it of there is a hotel across the parking lot for it.

my other girlfriend believe it or not used Jewel for her flowers.  You just have to find a Jewel by you the has the florist department in it. Call around & ask. They are pretty good on cost & the flowers came out really nice.

I used Photoplay for my videographer & they weren't pretty well priced & did a great job.

  • I also used Sound Sonic DJ and Dale Jewel!  What a coincidence!  I would recommend both of their services.

We got married at the Naper Settlement Chapel, I think  the cost is around $600 for that depending on time of year, time of day, etc.  It is very quaint and we loved it.  Our reception was at Walter Paytons Roundhouse, and sometimes they have deals going on as well.  Hope this helps!

  • I 2nd Walter Paytons Roundhouse in Aurora, but I'm a little biased b/c DH and I got married there! They are wonderful!! Ask for Nicole...she is great.

P.S. we had the ceremony and reception there.
