Hi Ladies!
I am a new Nestie and new to Long Island, and wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I got married in May and just moved to Glen Cove a couple months ago from Detroit, Michigan. It has been a big shock to say the least to adjust to life out here.
I think the hardest part is not having any friends or family out here. My husband is doing his residency at LIJ in Manhassett and works 100 hours a week, so that dosen't help. I love going out to the clubs, seeing Broadway shows and going shopping and have no one to do it with
I love being a newlywed and still can't believe all that planning is over. Now I look forward to making our home here and a baby sometime in the near future. I look forward to getting to know you girls and maybe planning some get togethers
Re: Yet Another New Nestie
hi! i'm a new nestie too. but i've always lived in ny. right now i live in queens, but i'm so close to li i feel like i'm always there for something. glen cove is nice, i hope you're liking it there.
i decided to sign up for the nest b/c i figured it would be a good way of getting to talk to girls who are on the same page as me (none of my friends, or his friends are married or even live together or have their own apartments. they have no idea. and my g/f's while i love them to death party at a pace i just can't keep up with anymore!) i'd love to just be able to go get a cup of coffee or a drink sometime and then be able to go home and call it a night. it would be nice to have ppl to talk 2 that can relate. i'm hoping we can have some get togethers too! unfortunately i have like -1 hours free time a day right now (work, school, hubby, dogs, apartment, family, life!) and feel like i am running around like a chicken without my head on. but i know the girls on the ny board have get togethers in the city. it's a pain for me to get to the city on weekdays though, and i'm usually away on the weekends, but hopefully one day i can make it to one! so you should definitely check out the ny board too.
so anyway welcome welcome! we can be new nesties together!
it's been like 3 days and i think i'm starting to get addicted to this site already lol.

Just wanted to say Hi Ladies and Welcome. I live in Hicksville and have been around these boards for quite a while. The LI board is still a little slow at this point, but there are a few of us who are trying to really get it going again!
I would def. be up for a get together at some point, but it is hard for me having a little one and all.
Anyway, nice to meet you!
Hi Ladies! I'm also pretty new to the nest. It's nice to have you here.
Jenny, I used to live in Queens when I was a kid. I lived in Ozone Park. Where do you live in Queens? I also worked in Queens for the past three years. But sometimes I really miss living there. Currently I live in Bellmore.
Hi girls... and welcome!! I live further out on Long Island (by Stony Brook/Port Jefferson). Today is our 6 month anniversary... and what a six months it has been blending families with 6 kids!!!! I was on The Knot quite a bit when planning my Destination Wedding in Mexico -- and am usually on the North Dakota board with other "graduated destination wedding brides"... but I try to jump over here often, too.
We just moved here last year -- but I think one of my neighbors is a surgeon at LIJ. I'll have to ask my daughter...
Happy 6 months! : )
Hi!! and welcome! im new to long island also. we just got marriedand we also just moved to Glen Cove. i think it is so hard to make new friends when you mover to a new area. its easier if you have kids-go to parks with them etc but for younger newlyweds its tough.
im on the same page as you! iwould love to go to a nyc meet up but i live and work in LI and its a PITA to go. maybe we can do a doggy play date! i have a nice size yard-fully gated-that my doggy loves to run in. what kind do you have? i have a shiba inu. hes 4.5 months old.
Hello Welcome!
I feel like I dissappear for 2 days and everyone comes out to play. I live in N Babylon directly in the middle somewhere. I'm glad you came and found us. Hopefully you will stay around
that would be fun, i have two maltese (one is 1yr and the other is 3) they're pebbles and bam-bam. but, they are monsters, it's my own fault i let them do whatever they wanted when they were babies, and now they are sooooooo spoiled they drive me crazy. my little one - the girl gets really barky and growly around other dogs, and my boy just is so timid he runs away from other dogs. they play nice w/eacother but i swear taking them to the doggy park is like watching a circus. lol, so i dunno if it would work out. i'm attempting to socialize them though, so maybe eventually lol. so 4.5 months! don't spoil him tooooo much!!! it's so easy when they're babies, but if i knew then what i know now..... i really think that they think me and my husband are around to serve them (seriously i'm pretty sure they have no idea that they are MY dogs lol) but maybe a meetup without the dogs around li would be cool.
btw - i must warn u i am one of those sickkos that dresses up my dogs (embarrassing, but i can't help myself)(don't judge me lol)
;
around bayside/flushing but i have a friend who lives in ozone park did you go to hs here?
happy anniversary! and omg 6 kids!!!!!! you are a saint...
My family moved to LI when I was going into 5th grade. I went to HS in Merrick. I lived there until this past July when I got married & moved to Bellmore.

i just looked at your bio-i got married a week before you on the 11th. We looked at Westbury Manor also but they couldnt fit us
lol so cute! so i am not the only one.... (i tried to crochet once, but it was a pitiful; excuse for a sweater - i cheated though and used that little ring thing, but still couldn't) so we both got married around the same time. very cool. i love the fall. it's my favorite time of the year. the only thing is it was too cold for cocktail hour outside. i knew there might be a chance, but i kinda thought it'd still be warm enough. but, whatre u gunna do about it. where did you end up doing the reception?
(btw sorry if i take forever to respond, i'm not always on everyday)lol thank you. i went to hs in queens. your so close to Queens though aren't u? its so funny u miss it here cuz i'm always telling my husband i wanna move to li. (but he wants to eventually go to westchester - ughhh lol) so where did you get married? the place looks beautiful in your pic - right on the water.
