So is this what happens when you move to SD?

We moved here in October, from NJ.  We got used to the warm weather quickly and don't miss the snow at all.  One day, when it was 59 here, neither of us wanted to take the dog to the dog park because "it's freezing out." We found out the next day that none of the regulars went to the dog park either because they too thought it was freezing.  I lurked on the NJ board today, and they're all excited because it's 58 and they consider it warm! How I don't miss NJ.  It didn't take me long at all to consider anything below 65 freezing!! Anyone else that came from a cold climate feel the same way?

Re: So is this what happens when you move to SD?

  • Hey! It hasn't happened to me.. we live in FL still... but, I have to say that Porkchop is getting big!
  • Apparently, yes! I have quite a few co-workers from out of state, one in particulat from cold capital Wisconsin! She said her blood must have thinned b/c now it's freezing at 60 instead of 6 below!

  • Yes, this has 100% happened to me!!! I used to commute to NYC on a bus & subway in 0 degree weather every day...now I'm freezing on the 10 foot walk from my car to office! Pathetic.

Today is not "cold" by NJ standards yet I am freeeeezing!!!! How am I ever going to move back???

  • Definitely! I moved out here from Jersey also (about 6 years ago) and it was an almost immediate change! Crazy, huh? I still get teased by people... "you're from the East Coast, how is this cold for you??" They just don't realize how quickly the body adjusts!

  • I came from the opposite weather, high 90s to low 100s is nice out to me...so anything below about 70 is too cold and I bust out a scarf and mittens and wait for it to snow...LOL.

Infact, I asked DH, who is from Michigan, on Saturday, do you think it is going to snow here today? He looked at me with one of those Nick Lachey to Jessica Simpson looks and then looked away again...so I asked again..."Cristin, its in the 50's. There will be no snow..." Womp, womp, womp.

  • lol... I acclimated very quickly to the warm weather! I'm a huge wuss now!

I grew up on the coast so it was relatively mild... it did snow a bit but it was mostly just rainy all the time (lol).  Still... didn't exactly take me very long to get used to San Diego weather.

Now, if only people could learn to drive in the rain, this place would be perfect!
