Anyone else training for the Mini?

I am and I'm using the Ken Long Bricks to Bricks program.. I was talking to a few friends tonight and we were all talking about our training programs. Some are doing distance, other time, just wondering what you are doing. Its fun to learn ;)

Re: Anyone else training for the Mini?

  • Oh, to answer my own question. I am doing distance. We are in week 3 and in my little group one we are at 10 -12 miles this week with our long walk being 3 miles. So far, so good. I am getting a little nervous about getting bored on long walks but I am trying to pace myself. I'm also crazy busy with school, studying for credentialing exams and oh yeah.. work.. argh!
  • When is it? I did walked the Mayor's Half Marathon last June in Achorage with TNT. I might be interested depending on when it is.
  • My DH applied for a Lilly Grant, and if he gets it (we find out at the end of next week), he is running the Kona,HI marathon and I'll be doing the mini on the same day/course.  I'm super excited but also scared to death.  I'm definitely not a runner.   We are using the Hal Higdon training plan.
  • ugh I'm so sad - I bought a ticket for it and now I'm going to be out of town that weekend!!!  So I need to sell it - if anyone's interested.
  • DH is training again.  he's ran several.  he uses the Hal Higdon or something like that for his training.

i'm going to do the 5k this year.  i'm doing the "novice" 5K training from that same site (hal something).  i'm terrible at running tho.  i always feel self conscious cuz i feel like i'm breathing super loud :-P

  • Since I finally have access to a treadmill again, I'm really going to start training.  I use Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham.  This will be my fourth half-marathon.
