Re: do you cut coupons?

  • I do.  The first couple weeks I felt like my mom and H was teasing me relentlessly about it.  For awhile I was buying stuff just because I had a coupon for it.  Now I only clip or take the ones that I know I need and it's really saving us a good bit of money on the groceries.
  • No, I don't. But I should start. My mom always did. I use coupons that I get at Acme when I check out, or in the mail.
  • I find them online and print them out.  It's cybe coupon cutting.
  • I do! I have a plastic "coupon envelope" for them.  I, too, get the sunday paper just for the coupons hehe.

My H thinks I am a total nerd bc I show him my grocery reciepts with how much I saved.  Last week it was over $12!

  • I don't but need to start! The coupons are in the Sun. paper?
  • I've been trying to save money grocery shopping, too.

Last week at Acme, I spent about $200 (which is around the normal), But I saved $91!! That's a record for me, haha. It's usually like $30-40.

I had a few coupons, but for the most part, I bought stuff that was on sale with an Acme card and a lot of what I bought was buy 1 get 1 free.

  • The one good thing my MIL is good for:)  She cuts them for me and sends them my way and I only use the coupons for products that I actually buy and toss the rest
  • Yep!  I love it...it's like a game to me. I match the coupons w/the sales at Shop Rite. I don't buy or clip stuff that I don't normally buy. Making the grocery list/cutting coupons takes me about an hour a week.  Last week I saved $37.80!!  I hung the receipt on the fridge.  Every little bit helps.
  • i dont clip coupons, but i have bonus cards to acme and shop rite. I also started doing my grocery shopping at the Super Walmart which is definitely saving me money. I think the last two times i went, i think i averaged spending $2 per item. I spent about $100 each time, where i think if i went foodshopping at Acme the bill would have been closer to $200. I also use the similac coupons for Ava's formula. Oh and I get meats and poultry at Acme however, cause i think its actually a little cheaper than Walmart.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I usually average 25-30 dollars a week between coupons and buying on sale....Its now a game for me :)

  • Wow!  You girls are pros!  I was all proud with my $12 coupon savings last week!  (although I saved more bc stuff was on sale at shoprite but it just rang up as the sale price)

I see I have a lot to learn!

  • Absolutely! That's my crack----to see how much I saved!

It's even better if you use coupons on sale items. Sometimes I get stuff for free. Oh, and make sure you grocery shop somewhere that does double coupons...that's awesome. You can google coupons for items as well as checking out the product's website to get coupons most of the time. I print those and that's helpful too.
