TTC Wednesday

"IT SAID YES".....That is what M came into the bedroom yelling at 5:30 this morning! We couldn't be more excited. Honestly though we were expecting a big No. We tested negative on Sunday and we believe it was too early to test but we were being super impatient. We spent all of Sunday upset, but when her period never came we decided to use the other test this morning. We are both in shock and I can't stop smiling. We are going to take one more test later this evening just to be on the safe side.

SSG would you mind emailing me the name of the "Dr. Wonderful" you had mentioned earlier, or even the Dr. you are using if you really like them?

Does anyone else have any news? I have a question for today (I don't think it's been asked)...What good pregnancy/parenting books do you guys have or are going to buy? I am always looking through the Barnes and Noble selection but I get very overwhelmed.

Re: TTC Wednesday

  • OMG OMG OMG!!! thats awesome!!!! congrats!!!
  • Holy Crap that is awesome!  You must be so excitied.  Now I have a local buddy!  I will email you the Dr. Wonderful info.  Yeah.  That is amazing.  Your tww went so fast!  I guess the mix up may have been the best thing ever!

  • Congratualtions! What a great way to start your day. Have a happy and healthy 9 months.

On our baby news, I had an OB appointment last night and things are right on track. We also signed up for a 4 week childbirth class at my hospital. It's getting closer!

  • We had our first appointment on monday.  It went well.  I liked the dr (but the one we were supposed to be scheduled with was delivering twins).  Everything looked great and we heard the heartbeat which was really cool.  S bought some baby items last week (the first since getting pregnant).  She couldn't resist  patriots and red sox newborn caps.  Totally cute.  I am feeling ok, tired and a little sick all the time.  But not bad.  I just made the mistake of smelling to see if some milk went bad (it was) almost puked.  Won't do that again.

  • CCBride - CONGRATS!!! Holy cow do we have a lot of bfp's around here!!!!

As for books, I have a couple listed in my bio - just the lesbian baby-making standards, that follow through pregnancy.  No help other than that, sorry!

Not really any new news for us - we are about 6 mos from our planned start date now :-)

  • Congrats!!

As for us...I'm really down today. I don't know if it's because I am overly tired (just got off work) or what the deal is. I'm ready for this tww to be over. I've had some symptoms but I never know if they are "real" as your mind plays funny tricks on you and they seem so close to PMS too. Who knows. TTC is such an emotional roller coaster.

  • congratulations, ccbride. i'm honestly not sure about what books are good, but we got what to expect when you're expecting--we had a really good coupon deal plus it was on sale in a boxed set with another book--and c has been reading through it. she seems to think it's pretty interesting and that has some good advice, but i've just thumbed through it so i can't really say.

we're not pregnant. this was our 5th cycle. we had an appointment with the re on monday for a consult to talk about what the next step is. he's switching up meds for one cycle, and if it doesn't work we're moving directly to injectables. i have more details in my blog.

  • Congrats CCbride that is very exciting! Lots of baby dust to those still in the tww.

Nothing new here, except all of a sudden our boys became girl crazy. T has been freaking out about it for a while and I have been the cool one, but last night a girl was flirting with them at the movies right in front of me and i had a minor breakdown haha, she reminded me way to much of me at that age which is definitly TROUBLE!

T is having a lot of problems again with her MS and now they think on top of everything else she is having seizures. She had to go on medical leave again, and we should find out today if they are going to give her paid dissability or not, if not then we are probably going to have to start the process of getting on social security dissability which i've heard is a super long process with MS. Sometimes i feel like nothing is ever going to stabalize and be at a point where we will even be able to think about TTC and today is one of the days im really having a hard time with it.

  • Thanks everyone for the kind words.

  • Congrats CC!  I remember how exciting and shocking it is to see a yes on the test!

For those of you still struggling through the process, I am sending fertile vibes your way and thinking about you.

    As for books we liked:

Regarding pregnancy -  The New Essential Guide to Lesbian, Conception, Pregnancy and Birth, Confessions of the Other Mother (Liked some stories better than other), The Mayo Clinic Guide (Preferred this to What to Expect...), Ina May's Guide to Childbirth (if you plan to have an unmedicated birth).

Regarding Parenting - Your Amazing Newborn (really cool book that talks about the reflexes of newborns -- worth owning when pregnant to learn about immediately after birth / baby crawl), The Baby Book, Your Self Confident Baby, The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night, Natural Baby and Childcare: Practical Medical Advice and Holistic Wisdom for Raising Healthy Children, Breastfeeding Made Simple: Seven Natural Law for Nursing Mothers (the breastfeeding book we liked best).

Several of these books are a bit less mainstream and more holistic/crunchy/woo-woo but they were the ones that I thought were the best/most innovative.  I have weeded through a ton.

    Thinking of y'all,
    hugs,
    Joanna

  • Joanna, Thanks so much for all of the book rec's. I will be heading to Barnes and Noble today!

  • Congratulations, CCbride! What exciting news!

As for books, I will second the suggestion for the "Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy"-- I flipped through it before giving it to a friend and it looked like a neat book. I especially liked the sections that provide guidance about when to call a Dr. I think that would help keep me calm.  :)

    Best wishes to everyone!!
