Hotel / travel help?

Some friends and I are planning a Chicago trip this spring.  Any tips on where to stay and what to see?  We are thinking we should stay somewhere close to the train so we can get around easier since we will be flying and would rather not rent a car.  Just looking for any advice or tips you have...

Thanks ladies! :)

Re: Hotel / travel help?

  • You'll probably want to stay somewhere near Michigan Avenue, the main shopping/restaurant strip in the city.  It's right downtown and close to museums and parks.  I don't have specific hotel recommendations, though.  You can take the Blue line from O'Hare or the Orange line from Midway to get downtown from the airports.

  • I always recommend people use Hotwire...  many of the 3 and 4 star hotels are similar, so as long as you are in the right location... the actual hotel doesn't matter much.    Just use the Michigan Ave, Streeterville, Wacker Drive areas, and you should be fine.

I have a list of favorite restaurants in my bio...   otherwise, there's a ton to do, so I suppose it depends on what you like to do.

If you are looking to stay in Chicago (and not out in the suburbs) dont rent a car. You wont need one and you will just end up paying for parking everywhere. There is public transportation everywhere - not to mention Chicago is one of the most "walkable" cities in the nation! When are you coming?
