Irvine police responding to reports of gunfire heard at the Trabuco Grove shopping center today found a dead man slumped in his parked white Lexus.
The incident was reported at 4:40 p.m. behind an Albertsons supermarket at Jeffrey and Trabuco roads, said Lt. John Hare, a spokesman for the Irvine Police Department.
?We have not recovered a weapon as of yet,? said Hare, confirming that the death was being treated as a homicide.
A man seen running from the rear parking area from which the gunfire was heard was being sought for questioning. Witness described him as being in his 20s and wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt.
The victim was believed to be an employee of a restaurant in the shopping center, but his identity was not released.
Detectives were on the scene interviewing witnesses, and bloodhounds were combing the area for the person seen leaving, Hare said.

Holy Crap!! Yikes, how scary!
I always think of stuff like this happening "somewhere else," not near where I live. This is totally going to screw up Irvine's statistics.
