I am now unemployed.
Oh ladies, what a February it has been! I'm sure you remember my long post this week about all my car problems (hundreds of dollars later - it's all resolved), well that wasn't the only thing that was going on. I had some work drama with the nanny family and this week it escalated to a point of no return. So I am no longer a nanny.
I'm kind of relieved that it's over, because as much as I enjoyed taking care of the kids, the stress involved in the dynamics of it all had gotten pretty bad recently. It was definitely the best thing for us to call it quits.
So now I'm just trying to remain zen about the prospect of job searching. Hopefully this grand finale is the end of my run of really shi.tty luck!!
Re: And for the grand finale...
what?!? i didn't realize there were issues w/ the nanny fam, i'm so sorry
best of luck on the job searching. do you know about sittercity.com? there are a million postings for nannys, if you're interested in continuing with that.

oh, that sucks. i'm sorry you're having such a craptastic week, hopefully the weekend brings some better luck.
Thanks everyone!
And thanks for the site, Elise, but I'm going back to boring old admin work
. In a nanny arrangement, everything becomes a little too subjective - things are not cut and dry or black and white, which makes it very easy for lines to be crossed. It all happened so quickly and this week just turned a corner, and there was no going back. I don't regret doing it - it confirmed for me that I will enjoy staying home when we have kids, and it was a nice break from the 9-5, but it's not something I want to persue again.

I am sorry you lost your job.
I was let go of my full time job in late november due to budget cuts. My nanny position started becoming stressful with the parents when he lost his job and refused to take care of the children so mom still had to hire me. Finally one week I just called in and said I can't work under that situation and stress level (being followed around with no help, just like an extra shadow). Anyway I know how you feel, and it stinks because "nanny" is considered a luxury in this day and age and with the current economic crisis so is a "babysitter" ><
Hope you find something soon, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers
Ha ha! Yes, I will be back in action!
