Poll: When you got engaged were you surprised?
1) I was not surprised at all.
2) I had no idea the he was going to propose and was totally surprised.
3) I knew that he was planning on proposing, but was surprised when it happened.

#3 ~ We knew that we were going to get married but were not officially engaged. I was so surprised when he proposed on my dad's birthday which just happened to be Valentines Day. He even had his mom and dad there.
#3-We actually had the wedding date set for about 2 months before we were officially engaged. We knew we wanted to get married in the spring, so the June before, we booked the church, hall, DJ & photographer so we'd get them in time. But we didn't get the ring or announce it until August, and I was surprised when it actually happened.
2) I was totally surprised, mostly because I thought he was a burglar in our apartment when I got home! I knew we would be engaged eventually, but we were in the process of moving and there was a lot going on, so I wasn't expecting it at all.
I was totally surprised! I wasn't expecting it for a few more months b/c money was tight. I didn't know he had been secretly saving money for a while. He had been joking about not proposing for a while, so when he actually did, I thought he was joking at first. I kept saying "Are you serious?"
#3 --> I knew he was going to propose, and I knew it was going to be soon (since I knew he was going to use the money he got from selling his truck and he had just sold it)... But I was very surprised when it happend, mostly because it was a weekday and I had had a terrible day at work and he knew it, and because of that when I got to his house to visit I wasn't in a super good mood and I felt like I didn't look that great (was wearing jeans and a red jacket). Funny thing is, today (Feb. 16) is our 3rd "engagement anniversary"
