Doxie foster homes needed

Hi ladies, I hope you'll tolerate me posting this as DRNA is in need of foster homes (or permanent homes!). DRNA will pay for all vetting/medications required. You can deduct food, toys/treats, bedding/crates and mileage each year you help. Please pass along this information to any friends or  family that you think might be interested. Thank you!!!

In the next few days DRNA will take on 26 dachshunds, more or less because these things are never known until they are in hand. They come from two very different situations but both in NC. DRNA is very short of foster space in this area so if you can provide a warm bed for a dog that has no idea what a warm bed is, we need your help. They also have no idea what it means to be outside of a pen that is bigger than a rabbit hutch. They stand on wire 24/7. They have absolutely no clue about house training or why that might even be a concern. They have been in the elements - hot, cold, wet, or whatever for possibly years. Their only value was to breed more dachshunds. Not every home will be up to this challenge. Patience and compassion are required. While you would like to hold them and squeeze them and make it all better, to do so will scare them nearly to death. You see, no one has wanted to love them for what they are as opposed to what they can produce. We can keep them safe for now but it won't further their skill levels toward adoption until they are in a home. If you can help with any of these dogs, please email ekb@raschnet.com Do not call any DRNA number you may find on the internet. It will slow the process. Fill out an adoption or foster application if you are in NC or neighboring state. DO NOT FILL IT OUT IF YOU ARE MORE THAN TWO STATES AWAY! We cannot get these dogs to you and it is a diversion from the cause. Look to adopt a dog in or near YOUR state. There are more than 350 available dogs! All of these dogs need homes and the economy is slowing down adoptions. We are in touch with AADR and AHDRS to coordinate combined effort. Please help us all help these dogs.
