Has anyone ever been to Craft?

My mom is coming in from Chicago for my birthday and made a reservation there (she's a big Top Chef fan). Any thoughts?

Re: Has anyone ever been to Craft?

  • We did the tasting menu there a year ago.

It was tasty...  the things I remember were the fois gras and the short ribs.

Oh and I also remember the chocolate chip muffin that they send you home with.

    We saw Edward Burns there.

    Your mom should love it.

  • I've been there twice.  The first time it was absolutely fabulous, the 2nd time it was good, but not as great as the first time, which could have been because we went during the holidays and it was REALLY crowded. So, based on my first experience there:

The decor is just so-so, but the food was fantastic and the service is top notch.  I love that they give you an amuse before dinner, an amuse before dessert, mignardise after dessert and a muffin to take home for breakfast the next morning. Definitely recommend the foie gras. The pork belly was also succulent. For the side dishes I recommend the assorted mushrooms and the brussels sprouts. Every dish is served family style, so it makes for easy sharing.  I'm sure your mom will enjoy!
