I have a puppy that I'd like to take in for a general check up. She's 3 months and has all of her puppy shots.
I think she might have gotten fleas from the dog park though. I cant see any since she's got a black coat so I'd like to take her in. Another theory on the itching is her flaky skin. Her dandruff seems to be improving since I changed her diet...but I'm not sure.
I'd like vet recommendations if you ladies have dogs. I heard good things about Silver Bluff Animal Clinic. Do any of you go there?
Thanks.

VCA clinics are good. They work with animal shelters. They see all kinds of things. We took out dogs there after we adopted them. They are a little more expensive but good. Also Try giving her a flea bath with oatmeal shampoo, it works great.

So just buy oatmeal shampoo? Or do I need to get some sort of flea medication?
She's 3 months so I dont know if the flea meds would be too much for her.
oatmeal shampoo and a flea collar. Make sure the wash everything (beding, towels, curtains, etc.) in HOT water. That kills the fleas in your house. Then she should be good.
Also I'm sorry I forgot, if you have carpet, the piece that you cut off after sizing the flea collar on her, put that in your vacuum and vacuum really good that will kill all the flea that are in the carpet from her just being in there.
Only reason I know all this is because my boys had flea's really really bad from staying at a friends house over christmas and we did over kill on the house so that they wouldn't bite us and continue to breed in the house or on the dogs.
I hope all of this helped.
I just left my job working at a vets office (because I moved). I would highly recommend one of our vets but they are a little far for you. Any shampoo should work to kill fleas if you just let it sit on the puppy for a couple of minutes. Oatmeal shampoo is very good for the skin. To prevent him/her from getting fleas again you need a monthly preventative like Frontline or Advantage. I'm pretty sure 3 months is old enough to start one or the other. I would have to check the box though to be sure. You could also use Sentinel as combination heartworm/flea preventative but it doesn't kill the fleas it just sterilizes them so they can't reproduce. Frontline works for fleas and ticks and kills flea eggs as well. If you do decide to use one you would have to put it on 3 days before or after a bath. If you bathe them too close to when you apply it it won't work. I would recommend not going the cheap route and purchasing the products they sell at places like walmart that are supposed to be similar. They are very cheap but have also been known to cause seizures and other reactions. You can also stop by a vets office and get a capstar which is a pill that causes fleas to start dying and falling off within 30 min. I also wouldn't recommend purchasing the products from pet meds because you don't really know where the products are coming from and sometimes they are repackaged etc. If you purchase Frontline or another product from a vet it is guaranteed by the company. If you go online and get the prices with shipping and print the ad out a lot of vets will match the price for you.
My grandfather and I have taken my dog to Panda Animal Clinic in Hialeah. It's a nice new facility. They do a good job taking care of the Animals there, from what I've seen. I also used to take her to "Animal Welfare" on the corner of Sunset and 72nd, which was good. Don't know if it's still called that...
Some dogs develop skin allergies, and Oatmeal Shampoo usually takes care of it. I would get some of those drops that you put on their neck, to kill and prevent fleas. You apply it about 2 days after the bath. I forgot the name... but all pet stores sell it.
