How'd your house hunting trip go? Did you get to enjoy any of what the city has to offer?

Re: Beth

  • We had a great time! I wish we could have stayed and seen the Mardi Gras action! We found a short term apartment in Kirkwood. With the housing market the way it is, we will look to buy something this summer!

We were so busy looking at apartments so we didn't get to do as much as we wanted but we will be residents soon! We checked out the Galleria and had a cupcake at the cupcakery.  It was kinda rainy so we didn't get to hang out in Forest Park as much.

Everyone is so nice there! It was shocking when a man said good morning maam to me who was dining in the same restuarant as us with his wife.  (That doesn't happen up here)

I"m still on the job hunt which is time consuming! Thanks for asking about our trip!

  • Awesome! Glad you had a great trip. Let us know if you need anything else. When are you actually moving?

  • Oh I will! We are driving down on Wednesday to move.  I will be coming back to Minnesota on Friday.  I have 3 months until my Master's is DONE! I have class the 7 and 8th so  I don't get to stay the weekend. So I will finish my masters and the school year and won't permanently be down there until June. It will be hard, everyone says it goes really fast.  But with being so close to being done with my master's and the school year it was the smarter choice. I'm really excited after our visit, to do some more exploring of the city

The only thing I need help with is having a jobSurprise haha

  • What type of job would you be looking for? What's your degree in?

  • Teaching. Elementary K-6 or ECSE. a few people told me some places to check out and I have been. I'm just in the process of getting my MO teaching liscense. There are some days when I would like to get in some other career yet not sure what, since teaching is not a career where you can switch without going back to school. But those are usually after horrible days with naughty kids! :)  We're getting excited to get down there! I can't believe how nice it is supposed to be later when we get there!

  • Good luck with your job search! I'm sorry I can't help...I was going to offer, but I don't really have any contacts with the elementary schools. :(

I actually know a lot of people who started in education and now work in HR - kind of weird, but they've been very successful with the transition.

  • I have been actually looking for some things in HR since the training etc is in my field kinda.  I'm not having too much look finding anything but with the economy the way it is, I know there isn't much out there...
  • Hmm...let me see what I can find out. We *may* have an entry-level HR position opening up soon, but I don't think it's posted yet. It would be a way to get your foot in the door, but it is a lot of policy interpretation, data entry, customer service, etc., but it is where our pipeline for future HRG's and managers comes from.?

  • Thank you! That is so nice of you! Let me know what you find out if anything!
