I don't understand how this is even possible?  Wouldn't he need the guys W2's and all the other info to file taxes?  And why can't the cops go to the address it was mailed to?

Roof - I'm not exactly sure how it happened.  But I know uncharch is a super MM regular so it's not mud, at least, IMO it isn't.  I'd be PISSED if someone did that to me and I had a refund coming.

I've heard about this happening when someone's purchased your information so they can appear to be a "legal" resident (I think MSNBC did a story on this sometime last year?). Sounds like hers is straight out fraud, though, and that sucks.

I was thinking the same thing, I don't think it's MUD at all. But you would think that the cops or police would be thinking the same thing?

That definitely sucks and I would be pissed as hell, especially if this is the second year in a row.

I think she needs to talk with the IRS more since whom ever this person is, they are either filing the taxes themselves or going to someone else who is filing it for them. Either way the IRS should be able to track from where it's coming from?.

My friend's fiance is having similar problems. His brother opened up a whole slew of credit cards using my friend's fiance's ssn and one day they got all these letters from credit agencies wanting their money back. They've been wanting to refi but his credit is so messed up that they cant. Its been a few months since they've been dealing with this and the brother denies doing anything wrong (they suspect him mostly bc of his well known gambling problem). What sucks is that my friend's fiance basically has to rat out his brother to save his credit which means the brother gets charged for identity fraud. Now the whole family and all 8 kids are at odds with each other because everyone's taking sides...its really sad.

Its really bad, they are getting married in October and bc of all the drama most of his family (who for some strange reason have taken the brother's side) are refusing to attend which has left the fiance with not much of a bridal party
