Ughhh..Changing your name!
Hi Ladies,
Ever since I came back from the HM, I've slowly been changing all my documents to my married last name...Although its not that complicated it's sooo annoying to see how much I have to change!! Also it was so strange to have to introduce myself with my new last name and I always find that I keep saying my maiden name...Anyways did you have to change your car registration as well? How was the whole name changing experience for you?

LOL After 3.5 yrs of marriage, I find it weird to see documents w/ my maiden name! Sounds strange, but it is.
I did change my car registration, but once I had to renew the registration... I didn't do it immediately.
Changing my name wasn't "traumatic" to me at all. I guess I sorta found it to be "fun" b/c you always get the question "and why the change?" and you get to say "I got married!" LOL Silly, I know... but it is the little things. My process was quite smooth.
I started w/ the SS office, and then driver's license... once those 2 were in place (in my mind, the most important), then I started change CC. Our house was bought before the wedding, and until we refinance (1 yr later), it stayed w/ my maiden name.

Myomectomy Sept.09 removed/fibroid the size of a cantaloupe. Began ttc March 2010.
HSG clear/ S/A normal. July stopped tempting.
First IuI, Clomid and Ovideral. 8/14 and 08/15=BFN!

. Ive been lazy to do that one since it requires sending in a check etc.
I will say, this past weekend I got a frantic call from my doctors office because walgreens called to verify my prescription and my insurance now is under my new name. They just couldn't figure it out even though my social and dob was the same. I haven't visited the doctors yet so I havent updated their files. They went bezerk. I thought to myself, "Doesn't this happen to them all the time when people get maried?" Its an obgyn office! You'd think they'd be used to that by now.

Speaking of photos....im quite mad at the fact that I had to change my DL photo. My old one was so pretty. My new one has my new haircut that I dont exactly love and a rounder face
I actually found everyone to be great w/ the name change as far as the DMV, SS, Passport Agency....
My best friend's husband works at the Passport Agency in Philly and she said they are kind of slow so you should get it quickly. Mine took like 2-3 weeks when normally it's 6-8!
My hangup has been w/ doctors. My insurance got messed up and still has my maiden name. And the doctors when looking for my records request my new last name and the practice is like "Uh....we can't find her in our database." Duh, I forgot to tell them to check under my maiden name.
I just changed my work email and need new business cards, but I can't rationalize killing trees for 500 new business cards.

It is not terrible....but I miss my old long hair
. I used to be able to air dry it and the ends would curl. I can't wait for it to grow out!
I'm still getting little things here and there that pop up needing a name change. It's annoying, but as long as you have the major stuff done, you'll be okay.
Get your passport done as soon as you can, that's a biggy. It's actually really easy, just fill out your paperwork ahead of time, take your picture (Walgreens does it) and drop it off at the post office. I got mine in the mail in 2 and half weeks.

Changing my DL, credit cards, insurance, etc. was fun, but I am putting off changing my name with SS.
I went to my local office once at opening, and there were 15 people in line! And I haven't been back since.
Anyone know an easier way of changing your name with SS? I don't have a certified copy of our marriage license to send them...
