WWYD (travel dilemma)

Would you:

a) Pay $219/person for 2 people to fly Virgin America from LAX to Boston (nonstop both ways) and end up spending $40-50 in parking by the airport?

b) Pay $244/person for 2 people to fly Continental from OC to Boston (3 hr layover both ways in Newark) and not have to pay parking?

Pricewise it comes out to about the same and I've heard good things about Virgin America but I cant decide

Re: WWYD (travel dilemma)

  • Oh and if anyone is interested, I have a 20% coupon valid on any Virgin America flight booked by the end of Feb as long as you travel by 6/10
  • i hate continental.

i've heard good things about virgin america. ?plus, layovers are a dealbreaker. ?my vote is for A.?

  • I hate flying out of LAX.  I'd rather do the layover and depart/arrive out of SNA.  It's not really the cost factor for me, it's more that I seriously cannot stand the drive to and from LAX.
  • I would get Supershuttle to LAX and avoid the parking alltogether. Also, there are some good deals on off airport parking - were you estimating for cheaper parking? Last - if you get Supershuttle from the OC airport or even from a hotel, the cost is considerably less than from a residence. I would avoid the layover if at all possible.
  • I'd vote for out of LAX since V is the one who would drive and I would sleep or read a magazine. He would vote for out of SNA. Is there anyone of your friends/family near LAX that you could leave your car there to avoid parking? We've left our car at BIL or SIL when flying out of LAX, what can I say we're cheap
  • Besides, doesn't Continental usually lose the luggage?

We get discounted parking at the Parking Spot by LAX through work so it comes out to about 9 bucks a day so I think thatd cheaper than supershuttle

  • Well, that's a good deal - the drive would be worth it to me, just to avid the layover. But check supershuttle pricing just in case!
  • I'm all for direct flights cross country now, because my luggage would always get lost/stolen on layovers.

Recommendation if you take Virgin - if you think you'll want one of their snacks during your flight, order it after your flight takes off, don't wait until you get hungy. ?They only carry a limited supply of each food item, so most have run out by the time you're 2/3 of the way through the flight. ?Also, wear a red top and you should get a free cocktail.?

  • D - I'll def check out supershuttle prices

MDOC - Thanks for the Virgin tips!

  • Virgin America. I flew them into NYC Sat.
