My fiance is from the southern Illinois area (Fairview Heights), which is where we are planning on getting married, but we have no idea where to have the ceremony or reception. We are having a small, family wedding (30 people), but don't want to get married in a church. We are willing to travel in the St. Louis area and don't really mind if it's indoors or outdoors. Does anyone have and recommendations? TIA!
Re: Wedding Location Help
My SIL had her rehearsal dinner and reception at the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis, it was beautiful and the food was delicious! Not sure about ceremony locations though. HTH!

There are many restuarants along Main where you could have your reception. http://www.diningstl.com/STCharles.htm
there is a gazabo outside the Lemp mansion where you can have wedding ceremonies.
Sorry, but do NOT tell me that you think that Fairview Heights is southern Illinois. You DO realize that FH is just a few miles/minutes outside of St.Louis right? I'm just going to assume that's a typo of some sort.
Edit: I just saw that you are from Chicago, I guess we are "southern" compared to you, but we are not considered southern Illinois. That is Carbondale etc.
To answer your question though, in Tower Grove Park, there is a place called the Palm House. It is beautiful and perfect for a small wedding/reception. We had our company Christmas party there. Also, the company does the catering there is FABULOUS! I seriously have never tasted a catered dinner that tasted as wonderful as it was.
That would be great...its sara22185@msn.com Thanks
Ah, for some reason it is not letting me send you the album from Facebook. Here is a link to the page. Let me know if you want to see a closeup picture of something specific at the park. I went to the park before the wedding and took a bunch of pictures and this is just a few pictures, my photographer took a ton.

And here is a cool picture of the reception. We had it outside at The Lemp Mansion. The gazebo was the dance floor. Ignore my cousin on the phone, I wish we could crop him out! Let me know if you want to see more pictures of the reception!
I'm late, of course, but St. Charles is a good HOUR from Fairview Heights. Not a huge deal, but it is kindof far to expect guests travel for a wedding, esp. if you're planning to have a break in between.
If you're up for an outdoor thing, there are two nice parks in Fairview. There aren't many good restaurants here, but Belleville is really close by and has lots of different kinds of restaurants.
There's also a local venue... I can't remember the name of it, but it's not too far. It's relatively new (within the last 2 years, I think).
There's also the Sheraton in Fairview, which I hear is a relatively nice hotel.
GL!
I have the Butterfly House in West St. Louis that I will rent to you for June 13th - 5:30 - 11:00pm. Our wedding was cancelled and it is non refundable. If you have ??? let me know!
