SD zoo v. wild animal park?

which is better, in your opinion?  we have kids 3 years and under.  thank you!

Re: SD zoo v. wild animal park?

  • Too much walking at the WAP. You can see more animals more quickly at the zoo. They pulled out the tram at the WAP so it's a considerable hike to see anything. Zoo also has free parking and the carousel and train next door.
  • I didn't like the WAP. It was like a glorified zoo. I guess I was expecting something different, so I was disappointed. I love the zoo and would highly recommend it. Your kids will have a blast!

  • I enjoyed the Wild Animal Park. There was more to do, but the zoo had everything closer together.

You probably wouldve liked the old WAP better.  I hate the new one...everything is out in the middle of nowhere and you dont get to see half the animals....thjey totally eliminated all the Asian animals :(

The Zoo is more "kid friendly"  It has way more shade and all those hills will defnitely tire them out by the end of the day.  They also have the childrens zoo and occassionally you will see some totally cuties in the nursery- last time we were there they had some baby fossas...too cute!

  • I had no idea they pulled the tram. I feel like an @ss because I reccommended the WAP to someone on  the travel board to avoid all the hills at the zoo. ACK!
  • Zoo for sure a lot more to see and less walking.  My kids (ages 5 and 3) LOVE the zoo.
  • Wow I had no idea they pulled the tram!!  That is really sad. I was going to say WAP, hands down, but maybe not without the tram...

Yeah..they got rid of the Wgasa bush line tram a few years ago and replaced it with the Journey into Africa.  Its shorter (20 mins) and only covers the African part of the old tour.  You have to walk down past Lion Camp to get on the new tram.  It sucks if you have to push a stroller or wheelchair or if its really hot outside.

  • Ladies, there is an elevator to get down to the Journey to Africa.  You don't have to walk up or down that crazy hill anymore!

My vote is still the zoo, though!
