DFW Nestie Needs Restaurant Rec for STL

DH and I will be in STL for his birthday, staying in either Downtown or the CWE and are looking for a great place to celebrate.  We're looking for a place with great food, good ambience, and that can accomidate a table of about 10.

We used to live in STL, but it's been a long time since we visited so I don't know all the new, hot places.  Thanks!!

Re: DFW Nestie Needs Restaurant Rec for STL

  • Some where that's fun to go to is the Melting pot, but it's a little pricy.

  • What about Lumiere - they have a few different restaurants - http://www.lumiereplace.com/dining.aspx

  • No idea what kind of food or what price range you're looking for, but here are some of my favorites that are large enough to accomodate your group:

    Slightly pricier (over $15/entree):

    1111 Mississippi (in Lafayette Square)

Vin de Set (also Lafayette Square--owned by the same folks as 1111, lots of seafood, among other dishes)

F15teen (on Locust, just west of downtown, near the Tap Room)

    Average price ($10-$15/entree):

    Sage (Soulard)

The Tap Room (on Locust, near 20th street)

Three Monkeys (on Morganford, south of Arsenal, near Tower Grove Park)

    Cheap ($10 or under):

Tin Can Tavern (one on Locust near the Tap Room; one on Morganford, south of Arsenal, near Tower Grove Park)

The Stable (Benton Park--great pizza and beer list)

There are many more, but hopefully this will give you a good start.  Check out www.saucemagazine.com; they've got a great St. Louis restaurant finder.
