Mother/Daughter Things To Do

My Mom and Dad are coming to San Diego for the first time in April.  My Mom is coming a few days before my Dad and wants to do something special, just the two of us.

But I have NO idea what to do.  We have to pick something my Dad DOESN'T want to do- so that knocks out the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Balboa Park, etc.  My Dad is a big tourist buff and when he's on vacation he never relaxes- he's out doing something until it's time to sleep.  So what are some off-the-beaten path sort of things that would be good for a mother and daughter to do together?

We're pretty much open to all suggestions, but not something too physical.  My Mom shattered her wrist in November and healing is slow going, so she can't really use the wrist that much.

Re: Mother/Daughter Things To Do

  • How about wine tasting in Temecula? A day at La Costa spa (if you're mom isn't in a cast-it's most amazing spa experiance ever!) Balboa Park w/ lunch at the Prado Restaraunt? Dessert at Extraordinary Desserts?

  • Visit the San Diego Maritime Museum in downtown
  • I think the US Grant does high tea. Supposed to be very good.
  • I was going to suggest high tea, mani/pedi, massage, shopping, extraordinary dessert, the ballet, opera hmmm....my mom is coming in on Thursday and that is what I have thought about so far to do with my mommy.
  • My Mom loves walking around LaJolla. You can go see the harbor seals in the cove, shop and have lunch at one of the many places with a nice view.

  • There's also a fabulous tea at the Westgate (downtown, on 2nd).  And the Hotel del does an AMAZING (but really pricey) Sunday brunch that's lovely.
