How much do you pay for cable?

We have Brighthouse (HDTV with HBO and Road Runner Turbo, no landline), and pay about $132 / mo.  I read somewhere that BH is increasing their rates next month by a few percentage points...grr.

Is there another cable company locally?  I really don't want to switch, but I'd sure like to have some sort of negotiating 'chip' when I call Brighthouse!  (And I'll go through the hassle if it means saving $30-40!)

I have Brighthouse for cable (regular digital; no movie channels) and Internet (we get RoadRunner Turbo as a freebie through a promotion) for $107 a month including taxes, fees, etc.

A lot of the ladies on the Money Matters board have had luck getting their bills lowered just by calling and threatening to cancel. You can try AT&T, I think they have started offering cable now, or threaten to move to the dish. Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

We have Brighthouse as well and aren't very pleased. In NJ, we had Verizon Fios and LOVED IT!!!! If Verizon Fios is available in your area (it's not availabe over here yet....boooo!), I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it :-)

We have BH internet and digital cable (HD box and DVR) and pay $114 all-in.  I am VERY unhappy with the HD service and we're calling today to take away the DVR.  This is our 4th HD box in a month and it still doesn't work properly.  Let us know how your bargaining goes!

We have a package deal through Embarq with a landline phone including voicemail, call waiting etc- high speed internet (we have the higher speed too) - and Dish Network for $142 including all fees and taxes. I was paying $165 and called to threaten to cancel a few months back and got it cheaper

We have Brighthouse basic plus and high speed internet (whatever the faster one is) and we pay less than $90.  But we only have one box, no movie channels and no HD.

When we move into our new house next month we plan to go back to DirectTV.  It was less than $50 with HD and two boxes.  We will reprice our internet and try to find the $20 a month plan we were using before we packaged it with cable.
