Mardi Gras plans?
This post goes out to Claire the Cajun, who is homesick, literally (with a cold). Wanted to see if anyone had any plans.
In the past I've never done anything for Mardi Gras, so what do you gals have planned? Booze and beads? Jackie are you throwing a Mardi Gras party?

Virginny - You are so sweet. Yep, still sick and trying to figure out how I'm teaching for three hours tomorrow night. But I'm looking forward to sharing King Cake and some Mardi Gras music with the students. I have a short video that explains the history of Mardi Gras while they eat the cake. If I have a voice, I'll lecture for a bit and then let them out early.
Anyone else have fun Mardi Gras plans?
Yes, i'm having a few of my sorority sisters over tonight for some mardi gras fun! I got some beads yesterday, and have them in a bowl by the door so everyone can grab some on the way in. I remembered we went to a masquarade party a few yrs ago, and when I looked for the masks (in the attic), I found I had a ton of them... so they are placed all around the house as decor.
I'm not having too much authentic food... just a cheese dip, some weenies w/ BBQ sauce (both real easy to make), and king cake... I went to buy some yesterday, and they were all gone! Luckily I could place an order for today. And of course we got some booze, and wine to add to the festivites.
I have about 20 women coming over... hope there is enough of everything!
