?'s for the San Diego Nesties!

Hey girls~
Anyone done a TTD shoot or B-Pics???
Roughly how much are they costing?

Also Anyone gave/got a present from FI the morning of the wedding? If so what was it???

TIA for your ideas :)

Re: ?'s for the San Diego Nesties!

  • Yes and yes.

    Free and free.

    I've done two TTD shoots with Chris Austin at one of his events.  He has them quite often (or at least he used to).  I did the winter '08 shoot at the Salton Sea and the fall '08 shoot at the March Air Force Base.  You can e-mail him to see if he's doing another session soon.  His website is http://www.chrisaustinphotography.com

    My b-pics I did with Susan at Robithearts Photography.  I was her boudoir guinea pig so she did the shoot for free.  I do know that her rates are only $100 or so for boudoirs.

    If cost is a concern, check out Craigslist.  I actually just saw someone looking for a couple to do a TTD for free and I'm sure you can find someone wanting to expand into boudoirs who will give you a good deal.

  • I am in the process of losing weight, but when I am done, I am taking them with Jim Kennedy. SexiLexi did hers with him and they were beautiful. I am sure she will know for sure, but a book and shoot is aroud $1000.00 (I think). I have $1500 budgeted for shoes, accessories, H&M.
  • Didnt do any of the pic stuff but DH did get me a wedding present although I got it the day of the rehearsal dinner.

    He got me a turn of the century Amethyst and seed pearl necklace.  I love vintage jewelry- the real stuff not the reproduction stuff.

  • oops...I forgot to answer the second part. DH gave me a little blue box with a white ribbon. My promise ring was from Tiffanys, so he gave me a "future" gift (earrings) from there too.

    $1,000 for a boudoir shoot?!  That's... REALLY expensive!  I'm sorry, but I don't think that I'd be willing to pay $1,000 for what's basically a glorified portrait session.  I Googled and assuming I've found the right website, they're great photographers, but their product is comparable to many others I've seen out there who are half the price.  If that's what you want, that's more then your right, I'm just saying that's way out of the budget of the average person.

    I just Googled "San Diego Boudoir" and found dozens of photographers out there.  http://desireehayesphotography.com looks really nice and you get an album and the shoot for $375.

    It does include the book!!  :)  So that does jack up the price a bit.  When we were pricing wedding photogs some of them were charging anywhere from $300-$1200 for the bound photo book.

    I priced a few places and they were anywhere from $200-$500 just for the session and then their photo prices were all over the place.

  • thanks for your help girls!

  • ^^ $375 for an album? I own an album design company and I could not get an album at cost for that price. When I see rates like that, it concerns me. It can take 20-30 mins per picture to photoshop, remove blemishes, add/subtract light etc. When you think a book has 40+ pics in it, that is a lot of work, plus the shoot time, custom album layout to tell your story, and then buy the actual album, it just does not make sense. Something has to give, so my guess is quality and editing. That is SUPER important to me.

  • Cristin, What is H&M? I should know, but don't.
  • I did both TTD and BPics. The TTD was free I searched Craigslist and went with Photography by Deshun. They are really good. Their prices are very affordable and they do great work. Not sure if they still have a free session but you can always ask.

    As far as BPics mine were not too expensive. I paid $250 for the session and $125 to have a small 7x7" book. I loved the way they turned out. Honestly I don't think I would have paid more for them. While DH liked them, he did mention they were "artsy". He said they look like something out of Maxim magazine. (I think he wanted "more" showing) Just an FYI...I had several friends who saw my book and also did a session and their husbands said the same thing. I think since our husbands have seen us in every light possible they want something that is really only for them.

  • I did Bpics for my hubby as his wedding gift. I used the same photog as SDJuneBride08, so mine were also "artsy" and I paid the same sesion fee. I put together my own album using Blurb.com and it was only $60 for the book. The photog was moving out of state, so she gave me this option and I jumped at it!

    For me, artsy was the look I was going for. I didn't want to be embarassed to show the book to my mother, MIL or even my grandmother. To me, doing the Bpics was about showing my sexy side. We had abstained for a year and a half before the wedding date, so the album was a HUGE hit. I did do a full nude with just my veil on that I have since blown up and framed to put in our bedroom. I think the female body is beautiful and I'm not afraid to put mine up on display (but only in our bedroom so it's semi-private).

    I think the look you are going for will determine who you use and how much you need to budget. Just my two cents.....

  • I didn't answer your second question....my DH bought me a share of Disney stock and had the certificate framed with an engraved plaque. We're Disney freaks, so it was appropriate.

    I'm not saying you shouldn't go with them.  If you have the money and you can afford something like that, I'm just it's going to be awesome.   Just that those prices are not conceivable for the average person.  $1,000 is about 2 months worth of pay for me right now because I'm on worker's comp for an injury.  I'd rather eat and pay rent and do my boudoirs cheaply.  What I'm trying to say is you CAN get them done and done well at a lower rate then that.  Your album may not have a leather cover and your skin may not be PPd to look like porcelain, but you can still get a nice product for much less.

    Heck, we didn't even pay for a wedding photographer and I am soooooo pleased with my wedding pictures.  And just because it didn't cost us anything doesn't mean the people taking them didn't put 100% of their effort into making them nice.

    TTD= Free

    Boudoir= Free

    Wedding Photographer= Free

    And I am 100% happy with all three.   Sure they could've been better if I'd paid a higher priced photographer to do them, but I didn't have that money.  I had nothing, I spent nothing, and I got everything I could have wanted!

  • I paid$ 1000 for my B Pics at Woman Captured (Boucher) and don't regret it a bit.  Mrs. SDSU if you are comfortable spending that much go for it, it's worth $1000 bucks to me for the album and the experience!
