Re: anybody participate in CSA?
My hubby and I have been looking but we're only two people and can't find one that will provide a smaller lot. Does anyone know of any?
This the list I have looked through.

I've been thinking about doing this. I checked out their website, but couldn't find a price - do you know off hand how much it is from Delvin?
Though, I see the p/u near me is Franklin Farmer's Market - I wonder if I just wouldn't be better off (and have more fun shopping) just simply shopping the farmer's market on Saturday, you know? What are the advantages to doing it the other way?
I don't know the prices for each specific farm, but last I heard from the Ag Extension office, prices are typically about $500-$800 per quarter. In TN you get about 32 weeks of growing season if you are lucky. If there is a drought, prices would prob be higher. You also should look to see if there is a clause in the agreements about loss, etc...
Living in Middle TN, you have an abundance of farmers here you can buy meat & produce from...you just have to look! You can even call the Ag Extension office & talk to them.
You mean the little green worms? My solution for the is to take a plastic dixie cup.... cut out the bottom & a slit down the side. Put the cup around the base of the tomato plant....like shown in my photo here.
I haven't really been impressed with the Franklin Farmers' Market in the past. I would think you would get a lot more produce by doing the CSA.
I'm looking at doing the eco-gardens CSA since they have a drop-off near me, and I can get a 1/4 share.

I have felt that way too, but we went last year on the first weekend they opened so I chalked it up to it just being super early for many things. But I figure if Delvin farms is their selling their stuff anyway, it'd be the same produce, you know?
Yes.....those are the same ones that I was thinking of. We call them Cut Worms. Using the plastic cups as shown above will keep them from climbing on your tomato plants. Those are nasty little boogers!
I never did like the selection at the Franklin Farmer's Market. There is a produce stand near my house at the four-way stop in Triune. I also really like the Farmer's Market in Eagleville.
We are, and we couldn't be more excited. We're sharing a half share with some friends who did it last year and had rave reviews.
Last year our friends used EcoGardens. Information is posted on the web-site of Christ the King Catholic church http://www.ctk.org/web-page-news.htm#csa.
But we're also considering Nashville Urban Harvest http://nashvilleurbanharvest.org/
If I remember, the cost for each is ~$400 total for weekly delivery. So, $200 for DH and I and we get to try all kinds of great fresh foods that we might not otherwise buy? How exciting!
