come in girls that like to read: have you ever read...

anything by Greg Maguire? I just started Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and I was wondering what you guys thought...

Specifically, the narrative is kind of odd and I was wondering if it was like that in all of his books...

  • I've read all of the except Lost and the newest Wicked sequel.  I like them, but you are right about the narrative.  And it is like that in all of them.  I read them all them back to back, so once I got used to it, it was OK.  I hated Son of a Witch, but I think its because I perceived it as a money maker rather than a natural progression from Wicked.

Yeah, I'm getting used to it as well... and drinking a glass of wine with it seems to help, too! LOL! Which was your favorite?

  • Oh, and they are extremely adult.  I know a lot of teenagers that read Wicked because of the popularity of the musical. The musical is VERY loosely based on the book. There is an orgy scene in it!  And trust me...there is no human/Animal orgy going on in the musical!

Stepsister and Wicked were my favorites.  I wasn't as crazy about Mirror, Mirror.  But it is really weird reading about sex and fairy tales!

LOL! I know! I read the part last night where the dwarf guy shows up at Schoonmaker's and is talking about how his package drags the ground... I was like WTF?!

I like Ruth the best :) poor thing... Last night, I left off where Van Der Meer is at Schoonmaker's (I'm trying to keep this spoiler friendly...)

  • I haven't read any of those, but has anyone read The Shack by William Young?

I've only read the first chapter, but I can't wait to read more.

  • I got the Shack for Christmas but I have at least two other books I want to read before I even start that one! I've heard it is really good and I can't wait to get started on it!
