Cake classes

Did anyone ever take cake classes? If so did you like it? Did you learn a lot?

Re: Cake classes

  • I have always wanted to do this. Maybe we should find a semi equal class for a bunch of us to go to. I would love to take one.

ditto, would love to have any info about taking one.

  • You can take beginners class at Michael's.  I took them years ago and yes you do learn a lot!

The last level focuses on fondant (my favorite).  You use the crampy/nasty Wilson Fondant in class, don't get turned off, other fondants do not taste horrible like that one!

They push you to buy the supplies at the store and honestly it's not too bad if you use they're weekly coupons.  If you think you're going to take all 3 levels, I suggest buying their whole tool kit with a coupon.  It will save you money in the long run, rather than buying what you need for each level separately.

    Good luck!Cake

  • Michaels what a great store. lol I forgot that they do classes on a whole bunch of different things.
  • I am actually going to start taking the Wilton classes at michael's - I don't know if I will go to the Aventura store or the one by Sheridan -  I know that they meet once a week.  I heard that they help you and i want to learn how to decorate cupcakes since I am into baking cupcakes now ! :)  Plus my nephew's bday is coming up so I want to be able to decorate his cupcakes for his Sponge Bob Birthday!
  • thank you ladies for your reply. I did sign up for the classes in Michaels. For the first course. I hope it will be funnnnnnnnnnnnn.
  • My Aunt took the classes, and loved them. She also went ahead and watched a lot of FOOD Network, and took recipes from Ina Garten.

It is something I'd like to do... but my schedule sucks, between teaching, singing, and the opera company.
