Keene: Restaurants/Hotels?

I'm supposed to speak at a conference in Keene on the 17th.  And being about 38 weeks pregnant at that point, my husband is going to go with me, & we're planning on spending the night (especially since it might be our last night out in a while!).

We're not familiar with Keene at all.

Any recs for a great/good/nice restaurant?  And a nice place to stay?

 Thanks!

Re: Keene: Restaurants/Hotels?

  • I graduated from keene 5 years ago and have not been back except for Pumpkin fest - so not really sure what rest. are still around and what is new since it has grown alot in the last 5 years - anyways there use to be (not positive if it is still there) a blues rest. in the colony mill which was called the ryeborn or something like that - it was very very good food, and well priced.
  • There are many good restaurants in Keene. ?The Elm City Brewery in the Colony Mill has great food and I've heard the blues restaurant right across from it is good too. ?There is Pappagallo's on Rte. 10 headed out of Keene. ?They have great italian food and is about 5-6 minutes from the center of Keene. ?There are some chain restaurants now as well. ?There is an Olive Garden, Unos, Applebee's, Longhorn, etc. ?Many of these are headed out Rte. 9 in the new shopping plaza. ?

As for hotels, there is a Best Western that is pretty nice. ?There is also a Holiday Inn Express that is pretty new. ?I've never stayed at either but I would assume they are nice. ?

    Hope this helps you!!?

  • My huband and I moved from Keene about a year ago and the Blues restaurant is now a really good Mexcian restaurant, I forget the name. We loved Elm City Brewery in the Colony Mill for a low key place. There have been a few new restaurants that are pretty good Michelle's in downtown Keene, was one of the newer ones. the stage had a great breakfast, Luca's is also very good. If you want a really nice restaurant the Chesterfield Inn was really good, we ate there once and had a really nice dinner. Keene is actually a really cute town. Enjoy your visit and if you like coffee try Prime Roast or the Bakery across from Keene Middle School, I believe it's called Kristen's, they have delicious pastries!
