I got laid me off today, but...

...they did offer me another position in another part of the company. It's just hard to take. At least they offered me something else in the company, but it's just hard to think that I wasn't valuable enough in my position that they decided to eliminate my position.

It just sucks and it's personal and I'm going to wallow in being upset today, and then Monday I'll go back in to work and accept the position so that I have a job. I know I need to feel blessed that I was even offered anything else, especially with the state of the economy right now.

I haven't been able to get in touch with my DH, so i just had to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening.

Oh honey, I am so sorry. I am happy that you were offered another position. I know so many people out of work right now that it is crazy! I am currently looking for something because I am board out of my mind being a stay at home wife. And I will tell you what. I cant find anything.

Thanks ladies. I know I have to look on the bright side of still being employed. I'm off to dinner and a movie with a girlfriend tonight. That's always the best medicine for a bad day.

I'm sorry to hear about you getting laid off in your current position, but it is good they offered you something in another part of the company.  Although it is hard, you shouldn't take the layoff personally, many companies are all about the bottom line (meeting their budget) and do what they have to do.  I am in a similar situation in that I also received notice that I've been offered a demotion (change in pay, title and kinda-sorta change in duties) in lieu of layoff.  While it's a blow to the ego to have a demotion and paycut, I thank my lucky-stars that I will still have a job.
