Hello to all

I will be moving back to San Antonio in May. I have  been stuck in a tiny town and can't wait to be in a big city again. Oh, I have missed all the good resturants.  Just wanted to say hello.

P.S. Faith How did the fence go. When I move back I have to do the same on my old house. Any advice?  Pics?

  • Hey stranger! The fence is ALMOST done. We did 3 sections tonight and have 4 left. John and one of our friends are going to finish it on Sunday. J works tomorrow and I work a wedding on Sunday so that means I get to spend all day tomorrow cutting the bushes down in the front yard. The fence was actually surprisingly easy. It's just time consuming when there are only 2 of you an no truck to haul supplies in. I'll probably take pictures and do a blog post about it this weekend with all the details.

  • I have been in the middle of now where misery. OH, I mean Missouri. Fort Leonardwood. The town around here are like 6000 people combined. I was so bored I actually took up fishing. The suprising thing was that DH did not enjoy it as much as me.  It was really hard on him when he had a fishing pole and I was creative and just used a line and hook. DH zero fish me 7.

Did you have to dig up the old post and use  new ones?? thats what scares me. I was even thinking of getting an auger.

I feel for you out there! My brother had basic and AIT training there I went to his graduation. Not too much out there in St. Robert! And it was a long drive to get anywhere else. May is coming soon....hopefully before you know it! :)

We put up a fence last year. We had a privacy fence up around part of our yard, but two sections had been taken down and it was just chain link behind it. But, even on the existing sections we had to put new posts in because the other ones were so old and wobbly. We did rent an auger one weekend and were able to get all of our post holes done. We used a texas toothpick a lot, too, to break up rock. The posts are the hardest part, especially b/c you have to wait for the concrete to dry - the panels go really quickly.
  • nice score on the fishes!

Our posts were actually in really good condition. There was one that needed some extra reinforcement and one that needed to be replaced so we didn't have a lot of post work. I've known people that had to rent an auger and do post and they haven't thought it was too big of a deal. It's more of the waiting for the posts to set. I think it's really a DIY project if you're up to it. Plus you'll save a ton of money doing it yourself instead of hiring it out.
